IAA: What is your music background?
Michael Black: My interest in music started at a very young age. I started singing in school and church choirs at the age of nine. I began writing my own music at the age of thirteen. A variety of genres of music such as gospel, classical, country and hip-hop have all influenced my R&B style of singing and writing.

IAA: How would you describe your music to people?
MICHAEL BLACK: I would describe my music as being poetic, extremely expressive, and carry strong stories behind them.
IAA: What makes you stand out from other artists?
MICHAEL BLACK: What makes me stand out from other artists is that I respect music for what it truly is, art. I hear a lot of music today and yes it’s entertaining, but it lacks true art form. Also I know that I am in the music “business” and I respect it as a business. It’s more then just writing, going to the studio, and performing. There are logistics, and rules to be followed. A lot of up and coming artists do not see or understand these facts about the music industry. Music=art and Industry=business. Each artist must have a respect for and be able to balance both elements
IAA: What are some upcoming projects, you are currently working on?
MICHAEL BLACK: I am currently in the finale stages of recording my debut mix tape “Unleashed.” I’m working on writing my next mix tape “The Come Up.” I’m also working on various projects with other up and coming artists, such as music videos and ghost writing.
IAA: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
MICHAEL BLACK: My career goals are to become a successful singer/songwriter and performer. In ten years I see myself already having at least 5 to 7 platinum albums out, touring all around the world, and writing songs for other successful artists.
