IAA:  What is your music background?

Maria Zouroudis:  I’ve had very little training. I took piano lessons for a short time when I was younger, taught myself harmonies by singing in different octaves when listening to the radio and produce from ear. The rest of what I know is what comes from the heart and what I’ve been learning along the way.

IAA:  Why do you want to record and release your own music?

Maria Zouroudis:  I want to dedicate my life to the things I love, and for me, those things are singing, songwriting, and creating. The greatest compliment for a life spent on music is when it becomes the soundtrack to someone’s life.

IAA:  What are your songs about?

Maria Zouroudis:  My songs are about love, the complexities (both good and bad) of relationships, and songs that are lyrically confidence-driven and empowering. I’m also known for free-styling about random things such as oreos, text messaging and basically any topic that someone throws my way.

IAA:  Who is your fan base directed towards?

Maria Zouroudis:  I’m not doing much of directing in any particular way. When I cover songs for youtube I choose songs I like and I have a very diverse taste in music. I also include more than one genre into the production of my originals. However, my voice is a little soulful with a bit of an edge so I could be drawing people who appreciate that type of sound!

IAA:  Who are your musical influences?

Maria Zouroudis:  When I was younger it was Aerosmith, Lauryn Hill, Mariah Carey, and Frank Sinatra. I gravitate mostly towards artists with substance, but everything is influential to be honest. I really soak up almost all music that I hear.

IAA:  How would you describe your music to people?

Maria Zouroudis: My music is pop with a touch of soul, rock, and R&B.

IAA:  What makes you stand out from other artists?

Maria Zouroudis:  I’m not afraid to be creative. I’ll make a song even if all I have is a set of car keys and a spoon!

IAA:  What are some upcoming projects, you are currently working on?

Maria Zouroudis:  I’m working on finishing my first EP which is my biggest project! I’m also performing a lot. I’ll be a part of YouTube’s tour in March!

IAA:  You recently have been chosen as a finalist in the Guitar Center Singer Songwriter Contest. Can you tell us how it feels to be chosen as a finalist?

Maria Zouroudis:  I’m SO excited! I’m definitely honored to be a part of the Top 10! There were so many amazing musicians that entered overall! I’m excited to be a finalist among 17,000 beautiful melodies, voices and lyrics.  I’m very grateful for the experience and the opportunity. Also, Guitar Center has been a huge factor in my success and musical growth. Every mic I have, my keyboard and most recently my in-ear monitors have all been purchased from Guitar Center! Musicians are lucky to have companies like this that are committed to supporting the music community.

IAA:  What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Maria Zouroudis:  To become an established fixture in the industry. What does every artist want-Billboard hit songs, Grammy’s etc! In 10 years, I would have another album, songwriting for other artists, juggling companies, charities, new ideas. My ultimate goal is growth! So I will always be creating and most importantly, happy.

IAA:  How can your fans access your music and contact you?

Maria Zouroudis:  Direct music is always posted on my youtube page: www.youtube.com/MariaZouroudis and official site www.MariaZouroudis.com. I respond everywhere else for my fans, so depending on which site they prefer they can catch me at the following places:
