IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

CLouD D’ SOLO: I’m from good ol’ Philly, PA or Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for some. I originate right out of West Philadelphia, where the 215 made me and West Philly raised me. I grew up right off of Lansdowne Avenue, where west side is the best side. I graduated from Overbook High School. Although Philly is where I originated, I perfected my craft by living in other cities and states. I traveled whilst in the military, which allowed me to get a diverse look on cultures. Philly is definitely home, because Philly is where it all began.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

CLouD D’ SOLO: My musical background varies. I started off young, simply singing in my church choir but I was very shy and had stage fright. Nonetheless, I still loved music so I continued to sing no matter the means. From there, I went on to singing in different church organizations and a youth group at my neighborhood park recreation center. I participated in school musicals, my school choir and talent shows. I wanted to do it all, from open mics to poetry slams. You name it, I showed interest. I even participated in simple cyphers, on the block around the way, with a beat box and a handclap.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

CLouD D’ SOLO: I want to record and release my own music simply because music is what saved my life, and just maybe, my music could save someone else. We all have a story to tell, right? By telling my story, it might reach someone going through a particular situation and let them know they are not alone. Growing up in an unstable household, nothing was ever easy. I ran the streets and stayed at friends’ houses more than I stayed home. Every day was harder than the night before. Every battle was more difficult than the last. The music I make isn’t just for myself or to tell my story; it’s about being a voice for those who feel they don’t have one. I am reaching those who feel they are so far gone, that nothing can bring them back. Most of all, I want to move people- not just physically but emotionally, and mentally. This is why I want to record and release my own music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

CLouD D’ SOLO: My songs are all different. Some are about the struggle of life, the heartbreak of love, the toughness of the streets and everything in between. Plus, every now and then you got your turn up track. LOL. Honestly with the music I record, there personally isn’t a topic I won’t touch. I incorporate my everyday life into the music I make. My songs are not only about my experiences but the state of society. It’s something everyone can relate to, but still vibe to and feel good listening to, overcome the struggle, appreciate the hustle and enjoy the times.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

CLouD D’ SOLO: My music is for ANYONE who’s ever been through ANYHING- for The hip-hop head, the music lover, the boy or girl, the one newly single female or the married couple. I make music for everyone. With me, there are no limits or one target audience. Everybody needs somebody and every ear needs something good to listen to. I make music for anyone who can simply hit “play.”

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

CLouD D’ SOLO: To be perfectly honest, I don’t have any musical ‘influences’ so to speak. There are artists I value in one way or another because my musical selection is very eclectic. I value the message behind Sam Cook’s “Good Times,” I value Bone Thugs – N- Harmony for their ability to remain true to themselves, I value how Aaliyah was able to touch people with her music, and lastly I value Adele’s range; her voice is so powerful but soft at the same time. Not to mention, she and Sam Smith got me through a difficult time in my life. Honestly for me – the list can absolutely go on and on from Flyleaf to Rick Ross, from Kendrick to Kehlani and from Earth, Wind and Fire to Usher. LOL. Everyone has their own unique sound. My love for music allows me to appreciate more sounds than many listeners.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

CLouD D’ SOLO: I would describe my music as MOOD Music, I make music for people in all walks of life and I have something for every mood. For example, a person may ask me to sing or rap at the drop of a dime. Before I do so, I simply ask “what type of mood are you in?” This catches people off guard, but every song isn’t for every mood. I try to do the song that fits most closely to the person’s mood. Every person craves something different and I have a track to fulfill every one.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

CLouD D’ SOLO: What makes me stand out from other artists is: Not only am I a female MC, I’m also a singer. To most, I don’t look the part. I make music for the people, for the times and for the MOOD. I give you something to really LISTEN & RELATE to. These days I feel like it’s hard to do with artists in the industry. They are no longer making relatable music or music that really has meaning behind its words. In my opinion, it’s hard to really relate to a track. People hear the beat first, then the hook, then maybe the artist. With my music, you hear me and the beat simultaneously, then the hook. You hear every word, you catch every meaning, you catch the depth in each bar. You feel the pain, love and pleasure in each hook, bridge and verse.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

CLouD D’ SOLO: Some upcoming projects I am working on is my EP titled “Heavy Conscious” to release this summer with my first single to release soon. My brand/clothing line “MOOD COLLECTION” will debut following right after the release of my EP. I am also working on features and collaborating on projects with different artists in and outside the city. On top of that- shows, shows, shows! I’ve been performing so much lately it’s like I’ve become one with the stage and currently I have shows booked for the next couple of months and have more coming in. It’s great, because that’s when I’m mostly at home.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

CLouD D’ SOLO: My career goals are definitely to be able to take my music to the next level, to perfect my craft and let people hear my music on a broader scale. Music is life. I would love to see my name on the chart, to be able to touch the world and give something back through my music. In ten years, I see that exact dream coming to fruition- performing state to state and coast to coast. I want to do that and then some. I want to buy my mother a house and break every barrier they said can’t be broken.
