Born in South Bend Indiana, Money Mane knew as a child music was his passion. He grew up listening to his grandfather, a blues player, play the guitar and rehearse old blues classic. After a move to Beaumont, TX in 2005, Money Mane decided to pursue music with full force. His unique style and humble demeanor caught the attention of the local music scene. His stay was short-lived. Three months after moving to Texas, Mane lost his beloved grandmother and returned home to Indiana to mourn her death. In 2009, his cousin asked him to come to Atlanta. It was in Atlanta that he regained his love and passion for music. He began networking and soon his music career gained momentum. After the release of his mix tape, “ I Been Gettin it,” Mane returned to his hometown of South Bend. Focused on putting his city on the map, Mane continued to grind hard and make a name for himself. With raw talent and unwavering work ethic, Money Mane is an inspirational artist whose main goal is to live life, while doing what comes natural to him – creating and performing music.
IAA: What is your music background?
MONEY MANE: I started doing music when I was around eight years old. During family events, I would rap and sing with my cousin’s karaoke machine. Since then, I have never been afraid to pick up a mic and rock the crowd. I realized at a young age that music was natural to me, and something I should be doing.
IAA: What inspired you to pursue music?
MONEY MANE: After losing my grandmother in 2005, I vowed to put my all into my music career. She was a big inspiration in my life. Before every show, interview, or event, I remind myself that she is watching and saying, “don’t go out there playin, you better do the best you can do.”
IAA: What are your songs about?
MONEY MANE: My songs are about life itself. I compose stories about things I might be going through at the time. I write stories about things the next person might be going through. I try to make everything in a perspective that the listener/fan can relate to, whether it’s a club song, love song, street anthem or just a good mellow type vibe track.
IAA: Do you write your own music?
MONEY MANE: Yes, all of my music up to date has been written and composed by me. I write my hooks, verses, and song layouts. With that being said, I have no problem with having a team of writers to help put out great music.
IAA: Who are your musical influences?
MONEY MANE: My music influences are the great Big Pun, Notorious B.I.G, Snoop Dog, and Tupac just to name a few. Right now in my playlist, I have a wide range of artist, ranging from Tyga, Chief Keef, Travis Porter, Future, Plies all the way up to artist like Owl City, Nickel Back and Ed Sheeran. You might even find a little old school in there like Zap and Roger and Al Green. I listen to all genres of music, anything with a nice vibe to it.
IAA: How would you describe your music to people?
MONEY MANE: I would describe my music as great music. It’s music you can listen to and feel good that you just bought the single on iTunes. You can feel good that you came out to a show and rocked out with me. My music is all around “feel good music.”
IAA: What makes you stand out from other artist?
MONEY MANE: I would say I stand out from other artists because I am myself. I’m not trying to sound like or be like the next person in the spotlight. I’m just being me Money Mane. I work hard in the studio, on my image, and putting on great performances. I realize that this is a business, and that is something a lot of artist fail to realize.
IAA: What are some upcoming projects you are working on?
MONEY MANE: I have been marketing and promoting my single “She Used To Be Cold” released under Island Def Jam Digital Distribution. Right now I’m working in the studio on my next mix tape project titled “Y.O.L.O” meaning “You only live once” schedule to drop summer 2013.
IAA: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
MONEY MANE: Honestly in 10 years I see myself in a major position, franchising, and doing major investments. I see myself being in a position where my family would be comfortable with no worries. It’s not really farfetched because hard work pays off.
