IAA: What is your music background?
SEKE BABII: I am hip-hop. Shout out to all other genres, I listen to them all, but hip-hop is me.
IAA: What inspired you to pursue music?
SEKE BABII: I started writing just to see how well I could do it. It turned out that I was better than I thought. Eventually after getting so much praise and recognition from my verses, I wanted to see where rapping would take me. So far the turnout has been really good.
IAA: What are your songs about?
SEKE BABII: My songs are expressions of my feelings at that moment. I bear it all from love to sex, broke to riches, and anonymous to fame. There’s really no way to tell what may come from my mind. You would just have to listen to my music.
IAA: Do you write your own music?
SEKE BABII: I’ve been writing my own music since the age of 11. It’s super easy for me because this is what I was born to do.
IAA: Who are your musical influences?
SEKE BABII: I was most influenced by MC Lyte because of how real she is in her songs and you can tell it in her delivery. Also, I am influenced by Lil Kim, Da Brat and Nicki Minaj amongst others.
IAA: Who are you currently listening to?
SEKE BABII: Currently my playlist consist of Drake, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, The Weeknd, and a local artist from New York named Voyce amongst others.
IAA: How would you describe your music to people?
SEKE BABII: I would describe my music as feel good music. It’s passionate and real. I feel like I’m different in mind, but as far as the struggle and hustle I’m just like everyone else who grew up like me. I’m doing what anybody else would do in my position, therefore, my audience won’t have a problem relating.
IAA: What makes you stand out from other artist?
SEKE BABII: I’m not your typical female rapper. In fact, “female” & “rapper” might be the only things me and other artists have in common. I say that in the kindest way possible. No two artist are alike anyway, but I have an extraordinary style that varies and natural ability which my fans will soon be a witness to.
IAA: What are some upcoming projects, you are currently working on
SEKE BABII: I’m currently working on my very first mixtape titled “Seke Duh Sickness” which will drop this summer. I’ve worked with other artist around Houston and had the privilege of being featured on their mixtapes which by the way are fire! Shout out to my man Moon Eyes Low & Maab Media & also Cezo da Pro productions. Now it’s my time, and I’m putting in a lot of hard work and sweat into this project. This is my baby right now. I look forward to the world hearing this mixtape & loving it. I already know they will.
IAA: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
SEKE BABII: Believe it or not, I get asked this question quite often. My elders asked me this question a lot because when you’re older you’re wiser and planning is everything. They tell me “you can’t rap forever”. They’re correct. I’ve been planning my entire life and nothing ever goes as planned. Therefore, I take it a day a time. In ten years I could definitely see myself off my feet being a mogul and still pursuing what I love even if I’m not the person on stage.
