Kanye West’s ‘Monster’ Video Banned by MTV

Kanye West‘s “Monster”music video has been banned by MTV, due to protests from feminists groups. According to News Change, a petition was submitted to MTV by feminine activists Sharon Haywood and Melinda Tankard to not air the video, which features Jay-Z, Rick Ross and Nicki Minaj. MTV reportedly agreed not to air the video.

The statement from the activists said, “The mainstreaming of videos like this increases desensitized and callous attitudes toward violence against women. Young people are seeing images and absorbing harmful messages which glamorize misogyny and brutalize women. Women are reduced to sex-doll like playthings. So great is the level of desensitization that the barbaric treatment of women and girls is seen as normal and to be expected.”

  • They added, “We decided to run this campaign because we wanted to challenge the status quo.”
  • The video features all four rappers surrounded by corpses of women in lingerie.
  • The unofficial video leaked online back in December.
