Ja Rule was sentenced to two more years in jail yesterday (July 18th) after failing to pay income taxes on over $3 million. According to The AP, Ja was accused of failing to pay the IRS millions of dollars in taxable income that was earned from 2004 to 2006. The jail time will reportedly run concurrently with his two-year sentence for attempted criminal possession of a weapon — which stems from a July 2007 incident.

The new jail time could mean an extra four to 13 months for the rap star. He said, “I in no way attempted to deceive the government or do anything illegal. I was a young man who made a lot of money — I’m getting a little choked up — I didn’t know how to deal with these finances….”

  • Ja Rule’s pleaded guilty to attempted criminal weapon possession — stemming from an arrest in July of 2007, where police found a gun in his Maybach.
  • He must also pay $1.1 million in back taxes.
