R. Kelly was recently rushed to the hospital for throat surgery. According to The Associate Press, The singer’s rep said in a statement, “R&B superstar R. Kelly will be laid up for an indefinite amount of time after undergoing an emergency procedure at Northwestern Memorial Hospital yesterday to drain an abscess on one of his tonsils. Kelly had visited a throat specialist earlier in the day complaining of severe throat pain.”
The statement continued, “Following a preliminary exam, he was rushed to Northwestern Memorial for the procedure.”
Due to his health issues, the singer will no longer be on the lineup for Reggae Sumfest in Jamaica — where he was scheduled to perform on Friday (July 22nd).
R.Kelly took to Twitter yesterday (July 20th) and wrote to fans, “I’d like to thank everybody for their love, concern and support. I WILL BE BACK!”
It is not known when the superstar –who just completed the U.S. leg of his Love Letter Tour with Keyshia Cole and Marsha Ambrosius, will be able to resume performing.
