Get To Know LATOYA JONES-Bronx’s Uprising Star!

Kirk Franklin did it with “Revolution,” Tye Tribbett did it with “Stand Out” and now LaToya wants to follow in those awesome foot steps with her project “Fresh Wind… Its time for a change”. Gospel music should be geared towards the transformation and deliverance of souls and if given the opportunity she knows the music that God has laid on her heart will transform this generation and many to come.

“In these last days the True Levites (the set apart ones) must take there place and begin to do what they were created to do.” -LaToya Jones

IAA:  Tell us about your music background.
LATOYA:  I grew up in the church so my music background is Gospel music but I have always been into Jazz & Classical Music, GREAT STUFF!

IAA: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
LATOYA:  I feel that as a Christian I have been called by God to share my experiences of how God is faithful, forgiving, and loving. Sometimes people need to know that there are other people who experience or have experienced what they are going through and have made it out through God’s grace.

IAA:  What issues and themes do you discuss in your songs?
LATOYA:  My songs focus on my life experiences for example; “Fresh Wind” is a song that I wrote after going through a major depression in my life. I woke up one morning and from the moment I opened my eyes I felt that thing were going to be different, better, new, FRESH. So I got on my keyboard and I played the tune in my head and the words shortly followed. God has always brought me out through songs that He has given me. The world needs to know that He is real and change is possible no matter what the situation is.

IAA:  Who is your fan base directed towards?
LATOYA:  I find that all people enjoy my music. I’m so honored when people of all ages come up to me or email me to tell me how they love my music or how my songs have blessed them and helped them through hard times. I’ll never forget a radio interview I did in NJ when a 60 yr old lady called in and said she loves my songs. That made me feel great! When I perform at concerts, the crowd always gets with me, singing along, dancing, and enjoying the music.

IAA:  What makes Latoya Jones different from other gospel artists?
LATOYA:  Truthfully, I believe that my genuine desire to help people through music regardless to money makes me unique. I also have a unique sound and presentation. Somehow, everywhere I go someone always says “you are unique, your music is different.”

IAA:  Who inspires you musically?
LATOYA:  I have learned from greats such as Kim Burrell, Ella Fitzgerald, and Brandy. As far as being different ,I love Tye Tribbett but I can’t forget my upbringing. Coming up I listened to my Aunt Joseline sing all the time and my Uncle Sam was, and still is, my personal and favorite, producer. My parents are also singers so they kept me surrounded with music!

IAA:  How would you describe your music to people ?
LATOYA:  I always tell people I sing deliverance music, music that will bring you out of your situations and uplift you. It’s great for listening pleasure as well J

IAA:  Tell us about some upcoming projects you are currently working on.
LATOYA:  Right now I am working on a project entitled “Determined.” This project is basically telling the story of how I have faced so many challenges but I’m a fighter and I won’t quit. I am determined to make it in life with the help of God!

IAA:  What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
LATOYA:  I love this question! In ten years I see myself doing the same thing musically but on a larger scale. My mission is to reach the world with my music and I won’t stop until that is accomplished. “And the grind continues….”

IAA:  How can your fans access your music and contact you?
LATOYA:  I can be found on most social networking sites: (this site has my music on it)
