IAA SPOTLIGHT: Get To Know PoeticDope-Bronx’s Uprising Star!

Lavonte “PoeticDope” Bell has always had an affinity for the performing arts . Dancing since the age of 7, and writing poetry since the age of 14, PoeticDope knew he was a creative genius at a young age.  Putting his poetry over melodic and catchy beats, PoeticDope soon developed a passion for rapping.  PoeticDope is not your average rapper, but is a full out entertainer that has a conscious message to spread to those who are willing to listen.

IAA: What is your music background?

PoeticDope: My uncle was a DJ and would mix and play music around me when I was growing up. Even though I started rapping when I was twelve, I didn’t take it seriously until my ninth grade year of high school. My English teacher, Ms. Warren, helped me express my feelings through poetry . I then realized I could put my poetry to a beat, and it took off from there.

IAA: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

PoeticDope: I want to record and release my own music because I feel that I have been chosen to speak for the people around the world. I feel that I am able to get my music out there.

IAA:  What are your songs about?

PoeticDope: My songs are about my experiences, other people experiences,  and mysteries that seem to have no answer to them, and world problems.

IAA:  Who is your fan base directed towards?

PoeticDope:  My fan base is directed towards all ages. The way I write I can write a song about a five year old and a thirty year old can relate to it. Each of my songs has a specific messages that everyone, regardless of age can relate too.

IAA:  Who are your musical influences?

PoeticDope: My musical influences are Mos Def, Nas, Jay-z, Common, and Tupac.

IAA:  How would you describe your music to people ?

PoeticDope: My songs  are like plays. When you listen to my music, you can picture what I am talking about. You can envision the characters, plots, conclusions, and understand the theme of the song.

IAA:  What makes you stand out from other artist ?

PoeticDope:  The one thing that makes me stand out from other artist is that I pay attention and listen to everything that is happening in and around the world. I sit here day in and day out and try to find the little things that people never bring up.  I sit here and listen to other people’s problems when no one else wants to listen. Then I work and answer their problems or act as their messenger speaking for them. Their story is finally heard through my music.

IAA:  What are some upcoming projects, you are currently working on?

PoeticDope: I’m currently am working on  two projects titled “Trip To The 90’s” and  “Poetry At Hand”. I don’t really want to let out too many details, but please know that these projects are going to be great!  Everybody will love them, I promise !

IAA:  What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

PoeticDope:  My career goal is to be the voice of the unheard so that people with the power can listen and help. I also want people going through these experiences to know that they are not alone.  I want them to know that everybody will pull out of it. You just have to keep your head up and have faith.

In 10 years I see myself still working harder than ever.  I will never stop working hard and never stop listening to people and spreading their stores through my music.
