IAA: What city and state are you from?
KATIE TROPP: I was born in San Jose, Ca and raised in Reno, NV, but I’ve been living in
Austin, TX the past 4 ½ years.
IAA: What is your music background?
KATIE TROPP: I’ve been playing the drums since I was 13 and started rapping at 15.
IAA: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
KATIE TROPP: Music is the best way for me to express myself. I feel so connected with
music in general that it feels like this is something I was born to do.
IAA: What are your songs about?
KATIE TROPP: My songs are usually about things that have happened to me or to other people. I tell a story of what I observe from my point of view. I always throw my sense of humor into every single song I write even when it’s a serious subject matter. I always speak the truth because at the end of the day this is who I am!
IAA: Who is your fan base directed towards?
KATIE TROPP: My fan base is directed towards hip-hop fans for sure, but I really I don’t care who you are, what your age, race, gender, or musical preference is. I want everybody to feel my music!
IAA: Who are your musical influences?
KRAZY KRACKA: Ice Cube, 2pac, Eminem, Slim Thug, Dr. Dre, The Notorious BIG, Jay-Z, Bun B, Tech N9ne, DMX, Lil Keke and MANY more! I LOVE hip hop!!!
IAA: How would you describe your music to people?
KATIE TROPP: CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!
IAA: What makes you stand out from other artist?
KATIE TROPP: Obviously the way I look! Having blonde hair, blue eyes, and being a skinny white girl makes me stand out. What I say and my attitude is something you have never seen from female emcees. You can feel my energy as soon as I hit the stage, and people stop and listen to what I’m saying in my songs. Not only can I make you get up out of your seat, but I will also have you laughing your behind off and thinking, “Did she really just say that?”
IAA: What are some upcoming projects, you are currently working on?
KATIE TROPP: Right now we are getting ready to shoot a music video for my single Get Down it’s going to be directed by an indie director here in Austin, Daniel Rigdon. We will begin shooting the video in about a week so make sure you look out for it! I am also working on a Blaqman Records compilation album called Eagle Guts that will feature me and my label mates, Playas Incorporated and Lecxs.
IAA: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
KATIE TROPP: I definitely want to start getting into making my own beats and producing as well! I love the whole process of making a song and I want to be in on each aspect of it. In 10 years I see myself being heavily involved in the music industry with my solo career and also producing for other artists and discovering talent.
IAA: How can your fans access your music and contact you?
KATIE TROPP: Blaqmanrecords.com
