SIXXX: I studied guitar, violin, saxophone and percussion growing up and as well as vocal music, both in church and school. The first time I ever spit a rap onstage was in the 5th grade. I didn’t think about getting serious until I did my first TDC bid in 1997-98.
IAA: What inspired you to pursue music?
SIXXX: There really aren’t too many artists out right now, especially mainstream artists, who are actually making an effort to connect with their fans BEFORE they “make it”. Releasing my music will be way of trying to “reconnect” the world to their music. I want to let people see and feel me for exactly what I am. I am a real person just like they are
IAA: What are your songs about?
SIXXX: My songs are about whatever I am going through. Whenever the idea to write or record comes to me, I write. However I’m feeling is what comes out. One thing you can expect with my music is honesty.
IAA: Who is your fan base directed towards?
SIXXX: My fan base is generally the everyday man or woman. It’s not really directed towards the ones out there “ballin’ ” or even trying to ball. I write for the ones working hard to pay their bills. The ones who want to cuss you out, but can’t because they have to keep their low paying job because it’s their only means of income. The ones who’ve been told, more than once, even they couldn’t and wouldn’t make it. That’s sixxx’s fan base!
IAA: Who are your musical influences?
SIXXX: My musical influences are pretty deep and various: Prince, Ray Charles, Charlie Parker, Ozzy Osbourne, Stanley Jordan, Will Calhoun, Jr. (drummer from Living Color), Stevie Ray Vaughan, Scarface, the Notorious B.I.G., T.I., Tech N9ne, Megadeath, Metallica, Anthrax, Jay-Z, Chuck D of Public Enemy, Gangstar, Ice Cube
IAA: How would you describe your music to people?
SIXXX: The best way to describe my music is like a conversation with a bangin’ soundtrack. If you listen to any of my music and talk to me, you’ll see what I mean.
IAA: What makes you stand out from other artists?
SIXXX: What makes me stand out from most artists coming out today is that I am my music, not just some image packaged for sale. I’m accessible. You don’t have to go through everybody and God to get to me, I’m right here.
IAA: What are some upcoming projects, you are currently working on?
SIXXX: I am currently working on my debut, full length album, tentatively titled “Triple Life: More to the Story” and my “Concrete Legends” mixtape series. I’m also in the process to putting together a mini-movie/mixtape idea.
IAA: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
SIXXX: In the next 10 years I’ll be off the mic and in the office. My company, SIXXX POINT ENT., is a promotions/marketing/management company that I’m building to allow me to do what I really want to do-create and steer.
IAA: How can your fans access your music and contact you?
SIXXX: Fans can contact me at:
