IAA:  What city and state are you from?

JEH BYRD:  Since I’m an Army/Air force brat I didn’t really grow up in one place. I was born in the Philippines, but like I tell everyone “I’m Florida raised; Texas made.” Florida raised me and Texas made me who I am.

IAA:  What is your music background?

JEH BYRD: Typical southern girl musical background: started out singing for JESUS!I loved being in the church choir. I goofed off and got yelled at a lot, but overall loved it. From there, I kept exploring my music options. I found that rapping was my forte and with all the writing I was doing it made for great lyrical content. I started doing club rap battles (my mom and dad were actually at my first one). When my father told me I had skills I pushed that talent further. I taught myself a lot and learned a lot from Dj’s, artists, and people burned by the business.

IAA:  What inspire you to pursue music?

JEH BYRD: My parents are from up north (New York, Detroit, Indiana) so I was exposed to Jay-Z, Naz, KRS1, Busta, The Roots, The Fugees, and De La Soul religiously. My dad would always turn it up and preach what I thought at the time were “cool metaphors.” When I moved down south I became drawn to the addictive southern beats. Hearing the beat come in and those 808’s start kicking; I can honestly say I fell in love! I love music. I listen to everything, because I can get inspired by all genres’ which fuels my love for music!

IAA:  What are your songs about?

JEH BYRD: Right now I’m trying to show that I can rhyme about anything! On my current projects  I talk about my swag, my money game, people being swackers “Swagga-jackas” , and who could forget the people I deal with “B!t(hes”. I talk about it all! I just make sure that my beat is sick and I’m talking about something substantial. I’m not just “saying” stuff to get through a verse.

IAA:  Do you write your own music?

JEH BYRD:I get this a lot! YES! I do write my own music, but I have a method to my madness.  That method does include hearing my team’s ideas while tweaking and changing what we need in order to make the song a hit. I think people want to do everything (rap, write, sing, dance, etc.) and they short change themselves, because they refuse help and feedback. You never know if someone else’s idea or vision is truly better. I won’t deny someone else of their talent when they are investing their time in me.  Two writers Snug B and Swagnificent, influence me a lot and help with my visions. Sometimes I really go far with the metaphorical content and they will tell me! That’s my team and I love how we are working!

IAA:  Who are your musical influences?

JEH BYRD:“I love everything musically!” Let’s just say I’m a ROC-Nation whore. I absolutely love Kanye. He is brilliant as hell to me. I don’t see how he could have missed me rapping all of his parts at the Watch the Throne concert here in Dallas. FYI to Kanye I play “Flashing Lights” every single day two times a day! Of course Jay-Z, you cannot deny, fight, or argue that that man doesn’t have swag in everything he does. It’s inspiring. Beyonce is a beast and she truly shows how versatile. I’m a true fan! Ri Ri, J-Cole, T.I, Busta, and Drake you’ll see on my ipod rotation the most. I also can swing another direction and say this so no one gets mad, I love Lil Kim. Lil Kim has done a lot and I think discrediting her of that would be stupid. I like what Nicki Minaj is doing, change was needed, and she did that! When it comes to “the sound” Foxy Brown, Eve, Queen Latifah, Gangsta Boo and MC Lite  they show that a lady can still go hard and kill it! I love Trina-the “Baddest B!t(h” cd rolled with me from Florida to Texas and after 3 years I had to retire my it because it was skipping. Shawna of DTP & Chyna White showed me southern girls can make crunk music too and sell! Needless to say I love all of my women and just want to say thank you for paving the way. Thank-you for showing the younger generation how to do it. I hope to work with everyone on this list one day #BUCKET!

IAA:  How would you describe your music to people?

JEH BYRD: Bassin’ Bangers-I’m going to draw you in with my beat first and then go ham on the verse. I change up my delivery to show versatility. I’m going to always make sure it has a beat that will bang in the club and blast heavily in the car. I have two  twelve’s in my trunk what do you expectJ

IAA:  What makes you stand out from other artists?

JEH BYRD: I can do a lot; write, rap, act, dance, and development of other artists. They have love for me in the hood and the suburbs! Point blank, I’m not just someone out here doing it for fun. If I’m putting my name or brand on something it’s going to be done right and at 150% on my part! When you give that much of yourself you don’t “feel” too many failures or disappointments in this game. You just have to move on and learn from your past. I refuse to make the same mistakes !

IAA:  What are some upcoming projects, you are currently working on?

JEH BYRD: I have 3 fashion shows coming up. I’m still walking the runway There are too many live shows for me to name. Check out my upcoming shows on my Android app or on the website. I still model so I have a crazy amount of photo shoots coming up as well. My team is making sure that I’m constantly busy. I’m going to hit you with my music or personality first and reveal to people “that’s my sh!t” later after I get their head bobbin.’

IAA:  What are your career goals ? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

JEH BYRD: I really want to work with as many people as possible! I don’t care about the genre. I want to work with everyone from Kanye  to Christina Aguilera. I don’t want to cut myself short, because I’m hip hop. I will define my hip hop! I want to explore and conquer this game. In 10 years I hope to be knee deep in my career, signing other artists, and expanding my Byrd House Brand. I don’t want to give away too much, because of the swacking going on these days. I know I have big things coming and too many ideas to execute right now. There’s a time and place for everything. With God by my side I have every faith that my dream will come true and my blessing will be paid forward ‘guaranteed’.

IAA:  How can your fans access your music and contact you?

JEH BYRD: Well for everyone that doesn’t know JehByrd is pronounced like “J-Bird,” I get a lot of different pronunciations but that is how you say it, lol.
