IAA: What inspired you to do music?
2 KOOL THE BOSS: Music today is a way that people deal with the events of everyday life. I want to be one of those people to influence others, and uplift them through their trying times. So, I started making music that people can relate to.
IAA: What are your songs about?
2 KOOL THE BOSS: My songs are about “Life”; it’s that simple. I try and balance everyday life with street life, and a healthy dose of spirituality.
IAA: Do you write your own music?
2 KOOL THE BOSS: Yes.
IAA: Who are your musical influences?
2 KOOL THE BOSS: 2pac, Scarface, 8ball & Mjg, Big Krit, Method Man,UGK, Twista, J. Cole, Isley Brothers, Jay-Z, Z-ro, Rap-a-Lot records and Swisha House click.
IAA: How would you describe your music to people?
2 KOOL THE BOSS: My music is a mixture of all regions. Being from the state of Arkansas, I wasn’t limited to one region of music. I had an opportunity to be influenced by Midwest, East coast, West coast, and Southern artists. So you can call me “twistahovafacepac”. That’s Twista mixed with Jay-Z, Scarface, and 2pac.
IAA: What makes you stand out from other artists?
2 KOOL THE BOSS: I am just me. Fans know when you are genuine and truthful in your music, and I want my fans to feel my music in their heart and soul. I want them to know that I’m not doing this just for the fame and money, but to help people old and young alike, to feel they have something to live for. When you listen to my music you get value and substance. I’m not trying to mimic someone that has already made; it I’m just gone be “2kool”.
IAA: What are some up and coming projects you are working on?
2 KOOL THE BOSS: I’m currently working on an album and getting my own production company started.
IAA: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
2 KOOL THE BOSS: The sky is the limit to that question. In 10 years, I plan on being an owner and being in the position to be giving this interview to upcoming artists, giving them the opportunity that Industry All Access is giving me. This is more than just recording music to me. I want “2kooltheboss” to be a role model, and the name should speak for itself.
