Adrienne Verniece is a Singer/Songwriter/Performer who has been doing music ever since her days as an young child. The self proclaimed “Army brat” has had the opportunity to travel the world with family, and having seen and been exposed to a lot of things over the years, she has been molded into the woman and artist that she is today. She gained the opportunity to open up for acts such as Zapp & Roger, CeCe Peniston, Bone-Thugs-N -Harmony, SWV, Avant, and Jaheim and has won numerous awards in local as well as national talent shows. She even performed twice at the 97.9 The Beat car show and concert in Dallas, TX. While not wanting to do music based on the latest dance craze, or the latest fad, her main concern is creating good music that says something and feels good to the soul. She calls her sound “a breath of fresh air to the music industry.”
IAA: What city and state are you from?
ADRIENNE VERNIECE: I was born in Laramie, WY, but I was raised in different places and have traveled all over. I am an Army brat. But I do consider Texas home because I have lived here the longest. So I guess you can say I am from Frisco, TX, by way of Laramie, WY.
IAA: What is your musical background?
ADRIENNE VERNIECE: My musical background does not consist of any schooling. All of my experiences in music have pretty much been hands on. I started performing when I was 10 years old, doing mostly dance choreography, and it wasn’t until age 12 that I started taking singing seriously. I started in an all girl group called F.L.A.V.A. and then eventually branched out to do the solo thing. While singing with the group, as well as singing solo, I have had the opportunity to be able to open for a number of big name acts…Zapp and Roger, Bone-Thugs-N-Harmony, SWV, CeCe Peniston, Jaheim, LLCool J, and Lil Flip.
IAA: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
ADRIENNE VERNIECE: Because I think it is time for people to get a taste of an artist who makes good music, but does not follow any specific trend that is out at the moment. To me, there is a lot of repetition in the music today, and every song that floods the mainstream radio station is about sex, clubbin’, money this, and money that. It’s almost like nobody is being creative anymore. I just want to show that music can be good and entertaining without all of that. I also want to show that creativity and good music comes in all shapes and sizes, and can be reflected at any age.
IAA: What are your songs about?
ADRIENNE VERNIECE: Love, Life, and everything in between!!
IAA: Who is your fan base directed towards?
ADRIENNE VERNIECE: I have a passion for encouraging, motivating and uplifting young women. So I would say my fan base would be directed to women ages 20-45. But I can’t exclude my men, because I have a lot of men who feel my music as well. So with that being said, I don’t want to exclude anyone, my music is directed to anyone who is willing to listen and appreciates good music!
IAA: Who are your musical influences?
ADRIENNE VERNIECE: I love everybody from Jessie J., Cee-Lo Green, Mary J. Blige,
Keyshia Cole, Brandy, Miguel, OutKast, Ledisi, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Frank Ocean, to pretty much everything old school, Teena Marie, Charlie Wilson, and Gladys Knight just to name a few. This list could go on forever!
IAA: How would you describe your music to people?
ADRIENNE VERNIECE: Music with atmosphere!! Every song on my project will and can set the stage for a moment in time in your life. Whether it is something you went through or something you are going through at the time! Atmosphere: is the mood or emotion that is conveyed by the setting.
IAA: What makes you stand out from other artists?
ADRIENNE VERNIECE: My way of thinking is what I think makes me stand out from other artists. I love singing, writing, and performing, but I am more interested in establishing Adrienne Verniece, THE BRAND, versus just Adrienne Verniece the artist. Having financial freedom is important to me, but money is not the only thing that motivates me. I have purpose, and that’s far more bigger in my world than anything else!
IAA: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
ADRIENNE VERNIECE: I just finished shooting my first music video for my single “Familiar Places,” off of my debut CD, Presented In Glorious Color. The single is currently available on iTunes, CD Baby, Amazon, and a few other outlets online, and will be released in October. I am also planning an album release for my CD, due out late fall 2012. I also have a writing/publishing company called Verny Girl Music, and I write for various independent artists. An underground clothing line is also in the works, along with a children’s book series, and an Artist Development Company just to name a few things I’m working on.
IAA: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
ADRIENNE VERNIECE: I see myself as a very successful businesswoman, accomplishing all my goals in life which includes, but is in no way limited to being a successful author, songwriter, writing for not only independent artists, but also getting placement on major projects and working with major artists. And by the time year 10 rolls around, I want to be stable and successful enough in my career to the point where I can give back and I can in turn help other artists, whether it be the art of fashion, music, or whatever it may be, achieve their goals and desired levels of success!
