IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
HA$H: As far back as I can remember, I have always had a strong love for music. I also have always written music. My stepfather was a DJ so I would go thru his records and find the singles with the instrumentals. I would then write my own songs to them. Me, my cousin, and little brother would put together dance routines to these songs. I would also write their verses as well. We would then perform them to our friends in the neighborhood.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own
HA$H: Music is my first love, and I have always had a strong passion for creating music. I feel that I am the voice for people who can relate to the struggles that so many of us face in everyday life. I also feel that the current state of the “game” is messed up. It lacks the substance that the listeners are ready to hear again. That same substance that I provide with my music is what makes me relevant. It has also kept my following strong. I do it for my fans and my future fans. I do it for the people who are tired of the swag rap, the fans who are searching for a breath of fresh air and for the art itself.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
HA$H: My songs are about life as a whole. I have songs that can make you laugh. I have songs that can make you cry. I like to think of myself as a versatile and well-rounded artist. I like to make music that people can understand and relate to. I have something that everybody can feel. I create real rap that’s also genuine music.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
HA$H: I have many musical influences such as, Wu-tang, Tupac, Biggie, Jay-Z, Nas, Shyne, Freeway, Beanie Segal, The LOX, Mobb Deep, 50cent, and Cam’ron just to name a few. I miss the golden era of hip-hop, when artist took pride in conveying a message in their lyrics.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
HA$H: I describe my music as the real heart felt form of hip-hop. The kind of music people can connect with on an emotional and personal level. My music isn’t just serious. I understand that people like light hearted fun music that you can have a good time to. I like to enjoy myself as well, so you’ll definitely get some of that out of me too.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
HA$H: Staying true to who I am as an artist and as a person is what makes me stand out from the rest. Many artists like to ride the wave of what other artists are doing in their music. I stick to my guns and do what I do. That’s why my fans from day one continue to ride with me. I have remained the same humble down to earth artist I’ve been from the get go.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in your music career and how did you overcome?
HA$H: One of the hardest challenges I’ve had to face as an artist thus far would be going to prison for 5 years. When I got out, I had to re-establish myself as an artist. While I was in the joint, I didn’t write much. I just absorbed and took in as much as could while formulating my plan. When I got out, I was patient, executed my plan , and here I am again back in peoples cd and MP3 players. I’m now doing an interview with Industry All Access! I am blessed and just happy to be here, ya know! I still have a lot of work to do to get to where I want to be though.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
HA$H: The ” M.O.N.E.Y Mixtape ” is out now! Available on Itunes, Google Play Store, Spotify, Xbox live, Muve Music, Amazon, CDbaby, and most other digital music stores. I have a few things in the works right now. I am currently working on a new mixtape as well as a group effort from myself, my partner Banks, and my partner, R&B sensation Kentron. Both should be released later on this year. The official album will be release either the first or second quarter of 2014.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
HA$H: My career goal is to be successful at doing what I love to do. To me, success isn’t measured solely by generated income but also by touching the lives as many people I can. I want to give them music they can enjoy and relate to. In 10 years, I can definitely see myself still having the passion to create, but I can also see myself owning my own label. I want to give these youngins the opportunity to become successful artist in this game. I just want my family to be straight for many generations to come.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How can your fans access your music and contact you?
HA$H: I try and make myself available to my fans by being a little bit of everywhere so I ain’t hard to find. Holla at me and I’ll definitely holla back!
