IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
J. DOLL: I started writing all different genres of music at the age of 13 years old. As time passed, my sister (and now manager) Tiffany S. heard me freestyle a rap I wrote, and at that moment she said, “I’m focusing you on only hip hop music for now.” I am currently recording and performing the music I wrote, and I am continually writing new music.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS :Why do you want to record and release your own music?
J. DOLL: I wants to record and release my own music because I want to let the females and males around the world know that if you have a passion for music like I do, to continue on and strive for greatness. I want to send a message to those people to let them know don’t let anyone define who you are. Don’t let anyone stop you from your heartbeat like my heartbeat for music.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
J. DOLL: My songs are about motivating a person to believe in their individual differences while not allowing one’s self-esteem to collapse.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?
J. DOLL: My fan base is directed towards the young adults and the older mature crowd.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
J. DOLL: My musical influences are Biggie Smalls, Lil Kim, Jay-Z, Foxy Brown, and my father Emery Martin.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
J. DOLL: The best way to describe my music to people is to think about someone being on a pier and looking out at the city. Sometimes your view is sexual. Sometimes it inspires the energy trapped within you, and sometimes it makes you feel like a balloon floating over the skyline…you feel free.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
J. DOLL: I am a free spirit who does not sugarcoat anything. I am very comfortable with my reflection in the mirror.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
J. DOLL: I am currently working on finishing my album so the world can hear and enjoy my music. I continue to perform as an opening act for major artists so that my voice and message can be heard.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
J. DOLL: My career goal is to be one of the best female hip hop artists that this music industry has ever seen. In 10 years, I see myself leaving a mark as one of the greatest female rappers that ever graced the stage.
