IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What is your music background?

CUSH:  My father and all of my siblings were all involved in music, so it only made sense  for me to get involved. I started rapping and performing in front of crowds at the age of nine. When I saw the reaction I got from the fans when I performed, I realized I was special.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  Why do you want to record and release your own music?

CUSH:  I like to record and release music because it’s therapeutic to let out what I’ve gone through or what I go through in song form. I also record and release music to tell a message. I’m telling people in my music what I’ve learned in life, hoping  that they take these things with them and use it in their own lives for the better. In all, since I was young I always felt like I was born to serve the people and by recording and releasing music, I believe I’m fulfilling my purpose.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What are your songs about?

CUSH:  Overall, my songs are stories about my life, personal views and experiences, which I represent through party and club songs, street songs, slow jams and conscious songs. I feel like I cover every aspect of hip hop with the type of songs I make.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  Who are your musical influences?

CUSH:  My musical influences are Biggie, Jay Z, Nas, Styles P, Young Jeezy and J Cole. They all affected the style of music I make in some type of way. They all bring different things to the table for me.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  How would you describe your music to people?

CUSH:  I describe my music to people as very cleaver, knowledgeable and lyrical, with a catchy melodic hook. Overall, it’s a mainstream sound with a lot of street and conscious content.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What makes you stand out from other artists?

CUSH:  I believe the biggest thing that separates me from other artists right now is my musical content. It’s something you would only hear me talk about.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in your music career and how did you overcome?

CUSH:  The biggest challenge I’ve had to face in my music career so far is working with people in the music business that don’t have the same work ethic as me. I move at a certain pace that many people I’ve worked with haven’t been able to keep up with, and because of that they slow down my movement. I’ve learned to be a lot wiser about choosing the people I work with, which recently has put my music at the pace it needs to be.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

CUSH:  I am currently working on my second mixtape “The Master Plan Two,” which drops this summer 2013 along with some video productions. I am also working on a couple singles I plan to drop throughout the Fall of 2013.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

CUSH:  My career goal is to be one of the best, if not the best, at my craft. I have a passion and love for the sport of hip hop. I’m always treating it like a competition where I want to be the best. That type of attitude and talent will equal to a successful music career and in ten years, I see myself as an influential person in the music business and that can have potential to happen on the business side or music side.
