IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What city and state are you from?

JB DUBZ:  I was born in Bloomington, Illinois but moved to Lincoln, Nebraska when I was young- due to my mother and father splitting up. I have lived here in Lincoln off and on, moving back and forth between my mother and father until 1999 when I moved back to Nebraska for good.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:   What is your musical background?

JB DUBZ:  Growing up, my father was a DJ so I was constantly listening and watching him do his thing- I was amazed. He also spun different  types of music, from R&B and hip-hop to alternative and classic rock, and I loved every minute of it. Also growing up, I was a member of a multi-racial family which brought all kinds of different music types to my attention. Walking through my house after school was like a colleague of musical art.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  Why do you want to record and release your own music?

JB DUBZ:  I want to record and release my own music because I want to express to the nation and the world what I see, what I hear, and how I feel. Expressing myself has always been a problem for me but for some reason I don’t have that problem when I am writing music or lyrics. Writing has truly been the best way of fully expressing myself. There is no better feeling than when a song is complete and is the way that I saw it in my head…I love it.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What are your songs about?

JB DUBZ:  My songs are about trendsetting, life experiences, and basically anything that I can write a song about. I can honestly say that I truly specialize in anthem songs. I really enjoy coming up with new concepts for a new anthem.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  Who is your fan base directed towards?

JB DUBZ:  My fan base is directed towards everyone. I don’t want to say specifics because I am still a growing artist and I don’t see myself limiting my fan base to a certain type of person or number of people. I just want to do me and we will see where it goes from there. The sky is the limit.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  Who are your musical influences?

JB DUBZ:  My family has a lot to do with the musical influence that grew on me as I matured. Lil Wayne was an influence on me due to his age group being around mine as well as his punch lines, and T.I. was always a favorite of mine. I also like older artists like Trick Daddy, Biggie Smalls, Bone Thugs N Harmony, and Twista. They all caught my attention. Also, various rock groups like The Smashing Pumpkins, Bush, and Foo Fighters give me chills when I listen to their music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:   How would you describe your music to other people?

JB DUBZ:  I would say that I make music doing things and saying things on a whole other level. I sometimes make you think about what I just said and try to leave people in shock, like ‘man, how did he come up with that?’ I would have to say that I like saying things that people can’t really put into words. It’s like I speak for them, ‘the PEOPLE.’

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What makes you stand out from other artists?

JB DUBZ:  My style; I have my own “me” I call it. I believe I’ll bring a very surprising and controversial flow to the industry. Let alone, I’m a hip-hop artist from NEBRASKA.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What are some of the upcoming projects you are working on?

JB DUBZ:  I am currently working on my first album called “BABYFACE NELSON.” With this album, I will basically be setting a foundation of who JB Dubz really is. I’ve been a lot of places and have see a lot of things . I’m going to shock the world.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

JB DUBZ:  My career goals are to grow in my musical career and develop my musical talents. I eventually want to become a producer and promote younger artists coming from small places, like me. Being from Nebraska, it is hard to believe in your talents because there is no one here to teach you what to do. I want to be that person to help.
