My name is Rasheed “Rah-1″Myers, born December 11th in East Orange New Jersey. I grew up like the average Inner city kid faced with road blocks and hurdles that plague young black teenage youth. Having to grow up constantly moving and having to deal with situations that adults created for me and my siblings it caused me to spend a lot of days and nights dreaming of a better way and better life. At the age of 18, I was forced from my nest and had to learn how to survive on my own. But the childhood I lived prepared me for adulthood in a way I could never imagine.
My dream and gift of music was discovered by a local DJ who overheard me rapping popular records on the radio at a bus stop. After the meeting at the bus stop I was invited to a recording studio and the rest is history.
Presently I reside in Raleigh NC where I found a home for myself to actually give myself a chance to survive. A place where the music scene is on the rise as well as offer a place with a lovely landscape for creating visuals for the music I write and perform. Although I was laid off on my birthday in 2009. That didn’t stop my vision and aspirations to be a self made all around music mogul.
My future consists of financial freedom in the industry of entertainment. To write, record and produce my own records as well as shoot my own videos, documentaries and films. My music and vision is geared toward the life of under privileged youth who grew up outside of the stereotypes that young black men are faced with on a daily basis. As well as expose and create heartfelt visuals to music I create that all ages and walks of life can enjoy. My ultimate goal for the future is to create music, videos and films that make people say: “Wow why didn’t I think of that?”

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
RAH-1: My musical influences are Naughty by Nature, Redman, Nas, and Jay Z and Naughty by Nature because I grew up around them. They were one of the dopest hip-hop groups of the 90’s and still get busy. Redman is the same because of him being so close to Newark, NJ as well as his wordplay and ability to put words together. I am influenced by Nas because of his flows and story telling ability. He makes you feel like you’re in the moment of some of his records. I like Jay Z because of the same thing but his ability to stay consistent and make hits in the midst of being successful in other lanes. JayZ really loves hip-hop. He is my biggest influence.
