IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What city and state are you from?

AVI OFFYI:  Alot from them moments, and it was some of the best times of my life. I thought some of the songs off the album or mixtape would draw out of state buzz, but still just hit locally.I didn’t realize it at the time, it was creating Avi-Offyi, it was building my craft, my art, my sound. It was a learning process and changed life situations. I was going by Alcaeus, that’s alyrical poet before Christ was born. It’s in the dictionary check it out. Soon after the mixtapes I started recording new solo tracks. You can view and listen on YouTube, Reverbnation.com
under Alcaeus ” Been in da Streets ” ” Gotta Shine ” ” Hold Me Down “.  Those were a few of the last times I’ve gone by Alcaeus. When I started using the rap name Avi-Offyi, I was just writing, making home videos, and recording with Jaxson Blaze, a producer from my hometown. I’ve been using the alias Avi-Offyi since I was 26. One of the songs we recorded is on Reverbnation.com “Pop 4 Me” and “The Alabama Anthem” is on YouTube under Jaxson Blaze. Check it out. The next few years responsibility and the streets played a role in my life. I can’t take it back and don’t regret anything, but it took my focus off music. Around October 2012 I went to a local music shop and bought a home studio setup and immediately started recording again. I’m 30 now, for the last year and half, 30 songs later, numerous sleepless nights, and countless frustrating thoughts. I’m here representing my city, Birmingham and Alabama in general. We are here representing relevant street music. Some of the new tracks you can listen to on Reverbnation.com ” Thoughts” , ” Freeway” ,  ” Worldwide” Off the newest mixtape STREETeR. ” Lebron” and ” Thoughts”  along with few other songs can be seen on YouTube under Avi-Offyi. We Here….

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What is your music background?

AVI OFFYI: When I first heard rap music I was hooked. I was hooked because of the stories artists told, the lifestyle, and how music related to life  to people. Industry beef was at it’s highest back then. During that time I was listening to Snoop Dogg, Eazy E, Dr. Dre,  Master P,  and Joe Blakk a local rapper from New Orleans. My aunt is from New Orleans and we went there every Mardi Gras, every New Year, and every summer. Bourbon Street Jazz Bands had me zoned in when I was young. Music has been in my life since I was a kid. Music was a savior for me honestly.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  Why do you want to record and release your own music?

AVI OFFYI: I pursue music because I want to change lives. I want to not only help the people around me, but my community, Birmingham, the state as well. It’s a lot of talent in Alabama that needs to be recognized. That’s why I keep networking. The music I make is going to help teenagers and young adults get through the day or the struggle or the hell that they are going through at particular time. My audience will be able to relate to my music, my experiences, and my life when they listen to my music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What are your songs about?

AVI OFFYI: My life, the streets, pain, truth,  hard times, good times, dreams, hustling, fate, a lifestyle, my partners,  my family, patience, dedication, God, death, living life, survival, reality,  stories.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  Who are your musical influences?

AVI OFFYI: 2Pac (R.I.P) told my life when I listened to him back in the day and even now. Jay-Z And Biggie (R.I.P) both were major influences. It was street music but everybody related. Nas along with the other great artists I named had real intellectual verses, that were inspiring. A lot of rap legends came from that era and had influence on my career.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  Who is your fan base directed towards?

AVI OFFYI: I’d say anybody that has a ear for catchy and relatable music.  My music is for anybody that has a vision. It’s for the streets, females of course, and people that hustle for a living. My music doesn’t reach out to one race. It’s more about your background, your style, your preference. It’s life music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  How would you describe your music to people?

AVI OFFYI: It’s heartfelt. My verses are about what I’ve lived, what I’ve seen, and  it’s real. It’s motivating if you are using it right. It’s the street life. It’s sophisticated. It’s impossible to ignore the sound if you like good music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What makes you stand out from other artists?

AVI OFFYI: My drive and my ambition make me stand out.  I’ve been doing this music, and these streets for years. Over 15 years to be exact. I’m a business-minded artists as well as a street artist. I stand out because of my grind, work ethic, and my knowledge. I’m a hardworking dedicated a$$hole.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What are some upcoming projects that you are currently working on?

AVI OFFYI: I’m working on  the mixtape “STREETeR.” I mentioned earlier about some of the tracks and videos on the album. I’m working on a solo album ” Died fo my Sins.” I am busy networking with other producers and nightclubs. I am trying to kick in the industry door, at it by any means necessary.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:  What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

AVI OFFYI: To be the best at what I do and to release quality, meaningful music. I want to have #1 hits and sell millions of copies the first week. I want to have a voice in hip-hop that’s never forgotten. I want to get in to acting one day if time allows it. I want a movie based on my life and I want to be mentioned with the greats. I want to be known not just as a rap phenomenon but acting as well. In 10 years I see myself still taking it one day at a time. Hopefully still alive and breathing taking care of my kids, getting laughs with the fellas, looking back at what we accomplished. I want to be taking on new obstacles, just living and istening  to our music.
