This down-south rapper RonBon strives for success and has well executed talent when it comes to laying down verses on any track he listens to. This 20-year old rapper from Greensboro, North Carolina is on the path to becoming the next hottest rapper out of NC since J. Cole. RonBon is a musical force armed with dope punch lines, metaphors, and a gritty flow on hard beats. He started rapping at the age of 18, and in a short time span has already made a name for himself.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What City and State are your from?
RONBON: I’m from Greensboro, North Carolina and have been living here my whole life. I want to be the next biggest rapper out of NC since J. Cole.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
RONBON: I have been a fan of rap and hip-hop music since I was 4. The different types of beats and the lyrical content was always a very interesting thing to me. I always wanted to showcase my potential and lyrics on a track of my own someday.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
RONBON: To express myself and for the love of the music. I can also relate to people and people can relate to me. Being in a studio or on any mic makes me feel like I’m supposed to be doing this. I also want to make a living and provide for my family for generations to come.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
RONBON: The truth. Anybody can throw words or phrases around but only a few know what it means. Only a few know what it’s like because they have been through it.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?
RONBON: I direct my fan base to the teenagers, young adults, and middle age groups of all ethnicities. Some of the younger generations need a guide on which path to embark on. I can be that guide because some music today doesn’t express that. People usually listen to a song or an artist and try to reenact what was being said or done in their everyday lives when they aren’t in the position to do so.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
RONBON: Kanye West, Young Jeezy, Meek Mill, and Lady Gaga. These artists are very unique and go to new heights when it comes to their genre of music. The break boundaries with their records, performances, and albums. They influence me because they started from the bottom and turned nothing into an empire. Which is the same thing that I’m striving to do.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
RONBON: My music is down-south, urban, and gritty. I make my lyrics amazing and easy to listen to. I like having fun. I like showing energy and emotions on records. I want that to transpire to the listener.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
RONBON: My mind and the way I can use different flows, lyrics, and punch lines. The way I can rip any beat I put my ears to. I am very creative and I like to think above and beyond to try different obstacles no one has faced before.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects that you are currently working on?
RONBON: I am finishing my first mixtape “Black Mask Killer” which will be the start of a series and will be released next month. I am also making a duo mixtape with my good friend, YF; set to release later this year.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
RONBON: My goals are: to get a record deal, make platinum albums, perform on multiple tours worldwide, act in movies, and be considered as one of the greats. In 10 years I see myself working on another album for my fans. I don’t want to slow down or take any breaks from music.
