IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from>
MONSTA MUZIK: I’m From Fort Worth Texas, and I am currently living in Wichita Falls Texas.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
MONSTA MUZIK: My Dad was a very talented musician and singer. He played 4 or 5 instruments and would write and record his own songs! He was a minister so it was all Christian music, but in Spanish! He would always sing to me, my brother, and sisters as kids, so music has always been a part of my life. I grew up singing in the church choir and performing in elementary school talent shows. I took my first choir class in junior high school. During both my 7th and 8th grade years, I was chosen for all region choir as a tenor. Freestyling was very popular back then and my brother introduced me to it. I took it and ran with it. I started improving and began writing my own music. I haven’t stopped since.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
MONSTA MUZIK: I love good music, and I love making music. So I just combined the two and strive to make good music that everyone will enjoy! I like to put versatility out there. Not just in a sense of singing and rapping, but the style of music I make. I record and release my songs because I want to share my experiences. I want to write about real life experiences and not just about money, cars, and clothes. I’d like to put out music that’s good and pure
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
MONSTA MUZIK: I would say my songs vary between many topics. I like to make songs about the experiences in my life. I talk about what I have done, seen, been through, and feel. You could say my songs are about my life. So basically I write from personal experience, personal opinion, and my point of view. But mainly I’d say my songs are about truth. Meaning the topics I write about are subjected to slight exaggeration, but they are never fabricated. It’s true music!
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
MONSTA MUZIK: I sing and I rap. So I would say I have many influences in music. I grew up listening to Backstreet Boys , NSync, Usher, Boys II Men and a lot of Country. R&B music has always been one of my favorite genres. Singing in general always touches home with me. My rap influences, especially with me being from Texas, are Chamillionaire, and Eminem. I think Chamillionaire had an impact because he incorporated singing into his music. On top of that, his lyricism, vocabulary, and delivery were all a factor as well. Eminem, however has always been my favorite lyricist.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
MONSTA MUZIK: My music is different. Some of the music I make I don’t know what genre it would be considered. I make a variety of music. I’m a fan of music. I make music for my fans. I love oldies, rock, country, R&B, dubstep, and everything in between. I am a fan and an artist combined. My music is original and you will not be disappointed.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
MONSTA MUZIK: A lot of music now sounds the same. Artists make dance songs and crunk songs with no real meaning. What separates me is the fact that I love to create music. It is an outlet for me, and I connect with my audience through my songs. My music gives people a chance to get to know me. You can dance to my music and be touched by my music as well. With my music you can feel honesty and passion. I think that is what makes me unique.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in your music career and how did you overcome?
MONSTA MUZIK: One of the hardest challenges was the first time I tried to put out music. Although I always sang around my Family and rapped around my friends, handing out a CD or putting my music on the web for virtually anyone to hear was a big step for me. I knew there was always going to be someone who isn’t going to like my music because I am competition. I was somewhat self conscious and worried of what people would think. It all worked out in the end. I put my music out. I got great feedback, which helped boost my confidence. Since then it’s been a steady learning experience and growth for the better.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects that you are currently working on?
MONSTA MUZIK: As of right now I’m working on my first album. Up until now I had been making singles and mixtapes just to get the feel of what I was doing. I finally feel like I can put all of my songs together and make an album worth sharing with the world. I’m a perfectionist, so it’s taking me a while, but my deadline is six months. I am working on booking some performances for the summer and working on a tour. I am a work in progress, but I am progressing nonetheless.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
MONSTA MUZIK: I am much more successful now than I was last year. I plan on being that much more successful next year. So, if I had to answer how successful I think I would be in 10 years, I’d honestly say at least 10 times more successful. I feel like the door has just opened and my career is filled with opportunities. Like I say in one of my songs, “Tryna get it on my own, I’ll never let it slip away, the difference when you stand alone, is if you fail it’s your mistake.” My downfalls can be no one else’s but mine, and I plan on having a very successful music career for my years to come.
