IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

LAMASTA ACA: I am a military brat so I’m from everywhere. I was born in Tampa Bay, Florida, but right now I’m in Waco, Texas.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

LAMASTA ACA: Most of the things that I know about music come from my parents. My father was a local DJ under the name Dazz back when he was in the military. My mother always loved to sing. She used to sing to me and my brother all the time. She had the talent to go all the way but when her group had an opportunity to go “pro” she decided to stay in the military.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

LAMASTA ACA: I want to record and release my music for that exact reason “release”. When people are feeling down or if your in that party mood or just want escape; I want to be the one person you can turn on and think wow he really gets it.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

LAMASTA ACA: My songs are only about what I know considering my age. Being 23, most people assume that the most all I know about is partying, sex and friendship. Behind all the basics, there is also pain there as a result of relationships. My songs are about good and bad, death, and also the stresses of not having enough money to live how I want to live.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

LAMASTA ACA: My influences are my mother and father. Both were independent artists with there own craft and needless to say I’m following suit. My lyrical influences are 2pac, Biggie Smalls, Nas, Mos Def, Jay Z, Lil Wayne and Wiz Khalifa.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

LAMASTA ACA: My music is factual. It can make you feel good or it can make some people feel bad or some type of way. Either way you will walk away from my music with a better understanding of who I am. Hopefully you will learn something new about yourself along the way.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

LAMASTA ACA: My music is me point blank period. So with that being said my music incorporates my crazy style, humor, love and pain. I’m not one to get sucked into the media vortex. I would rather be weird and different and peek your interest. I am more interested in my fans wanting to learn more about Lamasta Aca, than making them feel comfortable doing the same exact thing the next artist is doing. I stand out because I’m one of a kind.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in your music career and how did you overcome?

LAMASTA ACA: A few years back when I dropped my first mixtape of my mixtape series “Coolio” I ran into a scam. The scam played on my wants of being a superstar. Like any other young artist starting out, I believed that the music industry was fairly easy to get into. I thought if you had the musical talent some one would notice you, which is why the scam worked out so well on me. I was to excited and ecstatic to get the go ahead from some one who I thought was a A&R Rep for a record company. I forgot to actually check the background of who I was dealing with, but of course it fell through. So for a while I gave up on music, but then shortly after my mother told me “Don’t let this road block stop your drive for success.” After a while, I recovered from this experience and charged it to the game, vowing I will never let anyone play me like that again.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects that you are currently working on?

LAMASTA ACA: Right now I am actually currently finishing up my new Mixtape “LA” which stands for Lamasta Aca. The mixtape is going to describe me to fans I have or are going to receive. I figured it’s time to move from my Mixtape series “Coolio” and do something more upbeat. So expect some new things on that project.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

LAMASTA ACA: My career goal is to be 60 years old and still making bangers. I love music it’s near and dear to my soul. I never plan on stopping until I just can’t do it anymore. I have been blessed these last few months. As far as where I see myself 10 years from now, I’ll I can say is I see myself working hard and providing the necessities’ I need to support me and my family.
