Daven is a prodigy with talent that speaks for itself. Beginning his career at the age of 2, he has worked consistently for 15 years in the entertainment industry, amassing over 120 million views worldwide! From 25+ national commercials, guest starring on major projects such as iQuit iCarly and Merry Christmas Drake & Josh, to performing at Disney Epicot, Hard Rock Café, and House of Blues, Daven Wilson has solidified his status as the next big thing in the industry.

The astounding early success that Daven experienced has an equally astounding discovery story. Daven was only 6 months old when a talent agent approached his mom and requested to sign him on the spot. His Mom said she would bring him in when he was old enough decide for himself whether or not this was something he wanted to do. After a call from the same talent agent that approached him at 6 months, at 2 years old, he got signed and booked his first national commercial the next day. From there on he appeared in upwards of 25 national commercials with major companies such as Hasbro, Nike, and Denny’s, and has worked with celebrities such as Peyton Manning and Terrance Newman on national commercial campaigns. Aside from his prodigal acting abilities Daven’s good looks and athletic build landed him major modeling gigs, including magazine covers, catalogs, posters and billboards. In the process of amassing those commercial/modeling credits, at the tender age of 4 he began his 6-year run on Barney & Friends as the youngest cast member ever, starring along fellow alumni Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato. With his character, “Jackson” being one of the most loved among the cast, he starred in the Barney & Friends movie “Lets Go to The Farm” that was, and is, one of the most successful Barney films in the shows history. After his time on Barney he played the voice of Marcus in an animated children’s show called Boz. At 11 he guest-starred as “Trey” in the Nickelodeon record-breaking movie Merry Christmas Drake & Josh. The streak of quality projects continued when he landed a re-occurring role as “Fleck” on iQuit iCarly, one of iCarly’s highest rated TV movies worldwide. With his latest project being a coming of age Christmas movie starring Eric Roberts and Vivica A. Fox, Daven is on the fast track, and that’s not just in acting.

Daven has always been musical. Having professionally sung and danced in Barney, along with an impromptu performance at Disney Epicot, it has always been a mission of his to cultivate that passion into a facet of his career. While filming on Drake & Josh he met a producer on set that wanted to create a demo track with him, and through that process he discovered his love for creating music. At 15 he released his single titled “It’s Daven”, composed and written by him self, mixed and mastered by a diamond producer, and released independently on iTunes, as an introduction to his new venture into the music scene. Currently, as a graduated 17-year old with honors that’s been accepted to Pepperdine University, he has been spending time in the studio writing and working on his debut EP with the producers of various artists such as Chris Brown, Trey Songz, and Kirko Bangz (to name a few). With his new single “Contact” to be released summer of 2014, Daven Wilson is a face you’ll see and a name you’ll know for years to come.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

DAVEN WILSON: I was born in Bedford but raised in Flower Mound, Texas.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

DAVEN WILSON: A lot of my music background is actually attributed to my acting career. Starting from the age of 2, as a professional actor, I found that a lot of projects I booked involved musical elements. At the age of 4 I became the youngest cast member on Barney & Friends as Jackson, and due to dance rehearsals, studio recording, along with performing, I became accustomed to the rigorous task of putting on a show. This integration between music and TV continued as I got older. When I was approached by Disney Epicot, and sang in Merry Christmas Drake & Josh, I started realizing that this was something I really wanted to do. From there, the passion grew and grew to the point that I felt I should make my own music and put it out there.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:Why do you want to record and release your own music?

DAVEN WILSON: I honestly love the freedom that being able to speak your mind through music affords me. I like creating something that people can relate too on a personal level and hearing how my words affect them, but I also love the creation of melody, rhyme scheme, vibe, etc… I mean, I really just love the entire process of making music and being able to share in the experience my listeners have when they hear that music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:What are your songs about?

DAVEN WILSON: I would say a variety of things, because my songs don’t share a common theme. They fall in line with any feeling human beings have, whether that be positive or negative. I could say that I put out music that a lot of teenagers can relate to, but really anyone can relate to what I’m saying. I think that the songs I put out are a fresh take on the thoughts and emotions we all have, I just phrase them in a way that impacts the individual personally.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

DAVEN WILSON: Again I don’t think I have any specific fan base my music is directed towards. Though I do have the majority of my fans being tweens to college kids. I think that anyone young and old can appreciate my music. In other words, I think that the music itself is ageless, but my core following originates from teenagers and young adults.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

DAVEN WILSON: Michael Jackson, cause I mean who isn’t influenced by him, but also A LOT of Justin Timberlake. I actually grew up in the boy band era with an ENORMOUS amount of N’sync and New Edition being played in my household. After being introduced to legends like Stevie Wonder, Hall & Oats and Mariah Carey, along with current superstar artists such as Usher, Chris Brown, Drake and Jay-Z, I feel like I have been exposed to wide range of music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

DAVEN WILSON: I think it would be safe to say that I am a combination between hip-hop and pop, for lack of a better term, hip-pop. I lean towards the catchy “pop-ish” melodies that top 40 music is known for, while also bringing a rich, “bouncing” baseline that is a staple of hip-hop. If you could combine Justin Timberlake, Usher, Will Smith, and Drake, you would have me.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:What makes you stand out from other artists?

DAVEN WILSON: A lot of what makes me different comes from the fact that I fill a niche that currently has been absent for years. There really are no young artists, especially African American, that aren’t completely R&B/Hip-Hop, or Pop since Will Smith. Along with the genre niche I can fill, I’m also an actor and dancer. There hasn’t been an African American entertainer that’s been performing since they were a toddler, at a professional level my age, since Michael Jackson. Being a triple threat is something that a lot of the greats, like Jamie Foxx, have used to propel them to incredible heights. As well as being a writer, I feel like I have a lot to offer the industry in front of the camera, as well as behind it.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

DAVEN WILSON: Right now I’m getting ready to release my 3rd single on iTunes by the name of “Contact.” It’s a summer feel good song about what the majority of single guys will be doing on the beach… trying to get the hot girl’s contact information. It’s meant to make people feel good during 2k14 summer and as a newly graduated 17 year-old it seems quite fitting. I’ve also been doing covers/remixes where I lyrically transform popular songs into hype new mixes. I recently did Ariana Grande’s “Problem,” which you can check out on my Soundcloud.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

DAVEN WILSON: In 10 years I see myself being a household name. Musically at a Justin Timberlake level, and acting wise at a Will Smith level. Having already been seen over 100 million times on the TV screen worldwide, and a viral vine with over 250K Facebook shares on one post alone, once people connect the name to my face, I feel that attaining that goal is inevitable. Though a couple Grammies and Oscars would be the cherry on top. Being able to do what I love and people loving what I do is really all I’m after. So basically what I’m doing now, just on an MUCH greater level.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS:How can your fans access your music and contact you?

DAVEN WILSON: You can check me out on my website www.itsdaven.com and following me through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Soundcloud username: @itsdaven to stay informed about my new single “Contact” coming to iTunes soon!
