IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?
EZY: I am from Macon, Georgia. I was born and partially raised in Atlanta Georgia but I spent the majority of my life in Macon. Most of the lessons I have learned through trials and tribulations mostly took place in Macon. I feel as though it doesn’t matter where one was born versus the quality and quantity of the years spent in a certain location.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
EZY: My musical background concerning instruments includes me playing the snare drum and the piano. I was always the kid in class to get in trouble for having my CD and/or MP3 player in my ears in class. I also wrote multiple songs in high school, two of which I shot videos for and regularly had aired over the all the TVs in the school.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
EZY: I want to record and release my own music because I bring a factor to the equation that will help bring the music scene full circle. I feel as though the topics being focused on are skewed and the majority of the audience can only dream of identifying with the subject matter. I believe that if I am fortunate enough to be presented with the opportunity to influence the masses, it then becomes my responsibility to impart them with the wisdom necessary to heighten their survival skills for whatever situation they are placed in.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
EZY: My songs are about every aspect of life. The only topics that I have the jurisdiction to speak on are the ones that I am in some way form or fashion connected to or that I have learned from. My fan base also identifies with my music because it is as if they are hearing their own soul bleeding through speakers. Everybody goes through defeat and triumphs alike both with small variations but similar none the less.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
EZY: My musical influences range from Outkast, Bob Marley, Tupac Shakur, and Michael Jackson, T.I, and Jeezy to myself.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
EZY: I would describe my music as “Blac Sunshine.” The contrasting terms paint a perfect picture of all extremes that my music covers. “Blac Sunshine” is the epitome of the soundtrack to everyday life. The music that I bring to the table also acts as a blanket of comfort to let my listeners know that they are not alone in their struggle.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
EZY: What makes me stand out from other artist is my willingness to actually capture the heart of my listeners. It seems as though most artist are more concerned about impressing their audience versus connecting with them. The connection that I propose to my listeners is genuinely about the comfort that I offer. I am also very focused, and with the right resources I would have everything I need to continuously produce more material and more efficiently employ my work ethic.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in your music career and how did you overcome?
EZY: One of the hardest challenges was having to overcome the difficulties that came with not having the resources to produce quality material. A lack of resources simply made me boost my work ethic. I found myself trying to find ways to produce the funds to elevate my level of production. Motivation has always been the fuel in my reserve tank when I felt my ambition running low. I have never been distracted by difficulties. I always viewed my obstacles as another situation to help me rise to the occasion.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
EZY: Some of the upcoming projects that I am working on are a new mixtape, a new music video, printing t-shirts on the side and adding more designs to my clothing line, and also building my photography portfolio.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
EZY: My career goals are to establish myself and Connect Squad Entertainment as critical pillars in the entertainment industry. I want my success to be a symbol of relentless achievement, not only for myself, but also for other Maconites with similar goals. I see myself being a 10 year veteran doing everything that I already do just 10 times.
