Texas native Marcus White was born on May 28th 1985 in Harris County. Being the youngest of two, he began to realize early that his passion in life was to sing. Throughout years of singing in church choirs he developed a unique way to tell a story hence, Polo Musik was born. After much hard work and perseverance, Marcus became a revolutionary songwriter and breakthrough-recording artist, dedicated to bringing relative and heartfelt music to the R&B/Soul genre. Described by many as an outstanding vocalist, Marcus uses his love of Hip Hop, R&B, and Soul to create hits such as “Good Love, Take It Away, and Only One (In Love). Inspired by early R&B, Marcus loves to incorporate the element of a live sound in his music while keeping an intimate feel.

“The Power Of Love On Music” –Polo Musik.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

POLO MUSIK: I was born in Houston, but raised in the piney woods of Deep East, Texas! As I matured, I returned to Houston, where I now reside.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

POLO MUSIK: My background stems from the church. I come from a very musical family and grew up singing with them in church.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

POLO MUSIK:  I’ve come to realize that I have been blessed with not only talent, but also a wonderful gift to touch people’s hearts.  I want to share this gift with the world. It is only right. We often underestimate the power of our own voice. Words can change a nation and I think it’s about time for me to join the fight!

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

POLO MUSIK: It all begins with the music. Every melody tells a story. The sound of a note can bring pain and pleasure. My songs tell of life, love and my wildest fantasies.  I have so much to say and the music gives me direction.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

POLO MUSIK: I’ve always been inspired by artists like Maxwell, Dru Hill and Jagged Edge, as well as old grooves from Prince and The Isley’s.

INDUSTRY ALL ACCESS: How would you describe your music to people?

POLO MUSIK: My music is my heart and soul! It’s my therapy and it gives me life. It makes me feel and helps me to heal.

INDUSTRY ALL ACCESS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

POLO MUSIK:The biggest thing that sets me apart from other artists, in my opinion, is that I don’t do it for the fame or glory. The best way for me to express myself is to sing. I want to be the one to make a difference and bring comfort to someone’s situation.

INDUSTRY ALL ACCESS: Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in your music career and how did you overcome?

POLO MUSIK: My own fear was one of my greatest challenges to overcome in my music career. I started out writing songs for people because I was too shy to sing them myself. Finally after many failed attempts to showcase my work depending on other artists, I recorded my first song. The response I received was overwhelming! My confidence level grew more and more by each comment, like and share I received. From that point on, I became fearless.

INDUSTRY ALL ACCESS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

POLO MUSIK: I am currently working on several projects with some great producers and musicians for my debut EP. I am also working on a few acting projects as well. I’m always working on something creative.

INDUSTRY ALL ACCESS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

POLO MUSIK: My goals include building a successful brand for my family and me. I want to reach all parts of the world. Reach every dreamer, boy or girl, and let them know that dreams do come true and that their voice matters.  In ten years I plan to help bring back music programs in underprivileged schools and use my story to inspire people to speak up, speak out and LIVE OUT LOUD!
