IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?
RAVOSHIA MONE’: I was born in Merryville, Indiana to my mother who is from Texas and my father who is from Bermuda. As a result of that I have spent a lot of time in Bermuda but most of it in Texas.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
RAVOSHIA MONE’: My first love of music was interpreted through dance. I have been dancing since I could stand. I have always been an energetic performer. I did Ballet at United Dance Productions in Bermuda when I was a child. In elementary school I was the captain of the drill team and later on a member of my high school drill team. I found every opportunity to entertain through talent shows, audition, videos, etc. During my experience in high school, I developed a love for singing in choir. So I combined my growing passion for singing with a long time love for story writing and poetry and began writing songs. During senior year I took a leap and recorded one of the songs I wrote, “Wicked For You” and I have been working on my music career ever since.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
RAVOSHIA MONE’: Performing is my artistic expression of storytelling. I believe that I can offer the world great moments in music. Music is the most effective way to tell a story while using dance as an illustration.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
RAVOSHIA MONE’: My songs are about fun, love, life and fantasy.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?
RAVOSHIA MONE’: I don’t believe in limitations. I believe that specific works have a certain amount of content that can vary by age and comprehension. Everyone has their own understanding and appreciation. That is the beauty of all forms of art. The masses may enjoy a work of art, however beauty is subjective.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
RAVOSHIA MONE’: My musical influences come from many different artists and genres that are the soundtrack to my dual culture and life.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
RAVOSHIA MONE’: I would describe my music as fresh, new and unique for the overall sound. There is a little of everything about music I love. Some with content that is deep and others that are not serious but all with a whimsical flare. My songs portray a sense of who Ravoshia Mone’ is.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
RAVOSHIA MONE’: What makes me stand out from the rest is my overall style and performance. I am a natural vein performer at heart. I love to do things outside of the box when it comes to my writing, style and performance. I’ve watched the best of best and thus modeled myself. I’m learning how to entertain, as well as capture what people want to see. When people mention me compared to other artists I want them to say, “Ravoshia Mone’ is her own artist and I can’t wait to see what she will do next.”
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
RAVOSHIA MONE’: Well I recently did a music video for one of my songs called “Drop It,” and I plan to shoot my second one soon. I will be getting back in the studio to record a few songs and hopefully, in the near future, I will be organizing some live shows.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are you career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
RAVOSHIA MONE’: To acquire my full education and pursue my dream of being a performing artist and song writer.
