IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

JERMAINE JACKSON: I am originally from Chapel Hill, TX, but accredit my growth as a person to Gladewater, TX. Currently I live in Longview, TX, where I am musically based out of.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

JERMAINE JACKSON: I grew up on the blues, old school gospel and R&B. Micheal Jackson was my biggest influence in becoming an artist. I’ve been singing as long as I can remember. Hip Hop came later. UGK and 2pac just to name a couple. I’ve always written poetry but it wasn’t until the late 90’s that I learned how to translate it to rap form. I had been singing in school and a bit in church at that time, but officially dubbed myself a rapper in the early 2000’s. In 2005, 3 years after I gave my life to Jesus Christ, I began doing Christian Hip Hop. Hearing Lecrae and 116 music has fueled my drive since.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

JERMAINE JACKSON: After growing in God and refining my sound, which is an ongoing process, I desire to give listeners something that I desire when I’m listening to music. Tell me something in your words. Take me somewhere I have never been. Make me want to rewind and listen to a song over and over again just to catch the picture that artist is painting, and after all is said and done, cause me to want different for myself. I recognize music as the most inflential tool in the world. This is my talent to share Christ with all, and that powers the drive to be the artist that stands out, and sometimes, alone.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

JERMAINE JACKSON: When I write music, I look at it from a standpoint of how life is lived. My songs depict life from a Christian point of view. I address different situations we face everyday with the outlook of turning to God for His guidance. Aside from that tho, I do jump on the occasional crunk song and just go off!

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

JERMAINE JACKSON: My target in this market is anywhere from 10 year olds to 40 year olds. With the type of music I do, anyone could listen to it and find it appealing. But as far as the issues I address, that demographic is directly affected due to the content of my message.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

JERMAINE JACKSON: Some of my musical influences over the years, other than those aforementioned, include but are not limited to: Bizzle, Steven I, Trip Lee, Boyz 2 Men, Fred Hammond, Musiq Soulchild, Lauryn Hill, SUC, T.I., B.B. King, Mahalia Jackson, Jay-3, etc. That list would be so long, I would need a book. Each one of these artists present a particular in their work that has tweeked what I do.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

JERMAINE JACKSON: I want my music to transcend generations. It takes you on a ride that when you get off, you hurry up to get back on. As you listen, your spirit is revived and encouraged. God is the Head of my life and the Drive in my passion. You hear how He works in my life and the affect on others. In the end, the direction of your life will meet that fork in the road that offers change.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

JERMAINE JACKSON: I’m nothing like people have ever heard before. I’m not afraid to take chances and when I jump, I know I can fly. I leave my heart on the stage whether its a gigantic venue, or a street corner. I am not driven by money to do this, a life made whole through Jesus does. Remaining humble allows me to always grow so I will never claim to be great. Matter of fact, I don’t want to be. I do this For God and God alone. My individuality is by God’s hand alone.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects that you are currently working on?

JERMAINE JACKSON: I am currently working on my new album, Human. This project will depict the outlook on life imperfect intertwining with the view of the One who makes perfect. My label, Meekness Music Group, is about to drop Throne Room Music Mixtape this summer, featuring Steven I, TROMP, myself, and many more.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

JERMAINE JACKSON: My goal is to eventually get into full time ministry. I want to rap and speak full time at concerts and conferences leading people to Christ. Also to be a true Christian living out biblical principles in a world that is so used to hypocrites. In 10 years, I plan to be teaching the bible around the world. Still transcending within the music industry, I want to also blaze a trail in acting, writing, poetry, and whatever else I can get my hands on. Ever representing Christ and His saving power. Always Grinding.
