IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

JONES: I was born in Chicago and raised in Bolingbrook. I recently moved to Michigan, but Chicago will always be my home.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

JONES: Well I like to say that music is in my blood. I have been making music and rapping since the age of 12 but I have always loved music as young as age 6 I have been working hard to not only succeed with my music career but to get my label B.L.E. (Black Light Entertainment) off of the ground. My brothers and I also put together a team called L.M.E (Loud Mouth Entertainment). I also have done many shows and have been featured on many mixtapes all around the world. I have done many of my own mixtapes as well but am just waiting on the right opportunity to show what I can do in the industry.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

JONES: My songs are mostly about what I have been through, where I want to be, or where I am going. Sometimes they are also about things that are going on in the world. I like to make music where people feel the pain in what I write. I also like the fans to relate to the things I am saying so that that fans will feel that they know me personally.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your favorite song to perform and why?

JONES: My favorite song to perform would be “If They Only Knew”, because the song is actually true and focuses on the struggles I face as an independent artist

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What has surprised you the most in the pursuit of a career in music?

JONES: I am surprised at the way music has changed as far as the way it is promoted, sold, and even heard. I still remember back in the day when you had the double side cassette tape music on both sides, side A and side B. I remember when you could just hand an A & R your demo tape and they would listen to it. I recall the days when your talent spoke for itself and if a label liked you, you got a deal. It was that simple and now everything has changed. You need and manager, a budget plan, talent, plus the music which still doesn’t guarantee you a deal in today’s industry. This was a big surprise for me since I grew up in the era in which it was much simpler.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

JONES: My musical influences are people such as Nas, Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Lil Wayne, Ludacris, 2pac, Biggie, Michael Jackson, Bone Thugz N Harmony, Twista, Do Or Die, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Da Brat, Run Dmc, 50 Cent, and many more.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

JONES: I would describe my music as full of energy, mind blowing to some, but also full of spirit. My music is truthful and inspiring. I would rather talk about real issues then something fake my music stands out and speaks for itself. My music is also very colorful and in the light my words are not only clever but when they come together they give you a visual picture of what you are hearing. I would also say my music stimulates the mind.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

JONES: What makes me stand out from other artists is that they don’t have the same drive that I do. Most of them just rap, but I’m not a rapper I am an artist. What also make me stand out is my energy that I have when it comes to my music, it’s full of life. I talk about the real world..what’s happening, what’s going to happen, what has happened, or what is about to happen. I feel that most artists are afraid to take the angles that I do when it comes to music. There is nothing that is too big of a challenge for me, not any beat, or any person. I go head first into any obstacle that stands in front of me instead of running from it. I go straight towards it, my lyrics are unorthodox and I don’t have just one style so there’s no way of beating me.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What would you like to see change in today’s music industry?

JONES: I would like to see real music come back to today’s music industry. I don’t like the fact there are a lot of unsigned artists everywhere that can really rap or sing that never even get a shot like myself that deserve it. And instead of us getting the shot they give the shot to people that are less talented just because they have gimmicks. I feel that it’s a slap in the face to the real artists that actually work hard on their craft and put in the work all night. I just feel that everyone deserves a chance at some point in time and my time is now.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some of your upcoming projects that you are currently working on?

JONES: I am currently working on my mixtape that is called B.O.B which stands for Bars Over Bull. This mixtape is basically me showing love to the people who love to hear the bars instead of today bull that is out. It’s also to show that at anytime I can step out of my comfort zone and still kill it either way. The second project I am currently working on is my first album called born identity and that album is the real truth about what happens in my life like a documentary of my life in my own words through my music these two projects will be major me definitely something to look out for.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

JONES: My career goals are to get signed, go platinum and not only be a success but for my team to be a success. In 10 years I see myself behind a desk making and giving the deals watching whatever is going on. Nothing happens without me I am going to have my own label with many artists signed to it. Everyone on my team will be wealthy and my son will be well taken care of and will never want for nothing I plan on starting foundations and investing money to help people in need. I feel if I made it I could not only change my life but I could make a big impact on other people’s lives as well.
