IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

KASS A NOVA: I am New York born and raised. I was born in Glen Falls and became the man I am today, thanks to Harlem and the South Bronx. I have moved around a lot throughout my life making me a very versatile person. I am able to identify with all different kinds of people from all walks of life.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

KASS A NOVA: I have been obsessed with music for as long as I can remember. My grandmother always used to tell me stories about how even as a toddler, music was my greatest passion. I played different instruments such as, the clarinet and guitar when I was in school, however my home was in the choir. I made different selective choirs such as Area All State and All County. My love for music having started at a young age provoked me to start writing lyrics to my own songs when I was in just 2nd grade. Over the years I have perfected my craft and found the artistic style that suits me best, drawing my inspiration from many different genres of music and my life experiences

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

KASS A NOVA: It has been a life long dream of mine to write and produce music to be released to the masses. I wish to share my story as well as a message of hope to all that no matter what road your life takes you on a strong will and perseverance will help to overcome any and all obstacles placed in the path of where you truly wish your life to be.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

KASS A NOVA: I am an extremely versatile artist. I don’t write one type of song as opposed to another. My songs do however share a common thread whether they are a love song, club song, etc. Every last bar is inspired by my life, my experiences, and my view of the world we live in.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

KASS A NOVA: My fan base is those who appreciate real life music. People who don’t generally listen to hip hop or R&B are fans of my music for the simple fact that they themselves either identify with the lyrics or the feeling behind them. Typical age group is about 18-40.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

KASS A NOVA: My musical influences come from all different genres as well as muses from my personal life. Artists such as ,The Notorious B.I.G., Big Pun, Method Man, Eminem, Lord Kaos, Young Drew, Boyz II Men, Donnell Jones, Jaheim, Usher, TGT(Tyrese, Genuine, Tank), Brad Paisley, Josh Turner, Don Omar, Luny Tunez, And many more. Personal influences such as the queen of my heart, Bianca, past relationships, romantic, Relatives, and friends as well.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

KASS A NOVA: It’s life set to music. It’s more than just music. It’s my heart and soul on a platter. It’s Hip Hop and R&B rebirthed and restored to its purest state, infused with all other genres and styles.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

KASS A NOVA: I’m a lyricist who can talk about any subject unlike most “artists” these days who typically only stay in one lane. My spirit lives in each song and anyone who listens to my songs can feel it. I can perform and sample from any genre of music past and present and make them seem almost futuristic. I’m one of those “way ahead of my time” type of artists. I am a diamond in the rough just waiting to be discovered.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

KASS A NOVA: I have a lot of material ready and waiting to be recorded and released to the public. Among them are tracks like “You Feed My Soul”, “Impatient”, “Find Out”, and “Drake’s Worst Nightmare”.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

KASS A NOVA: My career goals are to have several different successful companies, music industry related and otherwise. I want to develop and release other artists under me, giving them the opportunity to shine as is being afforded to me. Above all, my main focus is to bring real soulful hip hop back to life. In ten years I see myself with at least one Grammy and some Platinum records.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How can your fans access your music and contact you?

KASS A NOVA: There are several ways for my fans to access my music and/or contact me. My music is on www.reverbnation.com/kassanovalongtime and soundclound.com/YoungKassLongtimeRecCEOVP as well as on YouTube which can be most easily accessed through my reverbnation page. 1. Thank you for the article about Kass-A-Nova!! I have know him a long time and have always loved hearing his voice. He is an excellent talent in music, both singing and creating the music. He is a born musical talent!!

  2. A true artist’s heart and soul is found in every aspect of their work. Kass, this is especially true for you. I relate to your lyrics and my emotions are deeply stirred when I hear your voice coming through my speakers/ headphones. Your voice always flows effortlessly with the beat of the song and enhances the lyrics, adding even greater value to the music. It’s exactly as you explained in the interview: your music is “life set to music.”
I’m not from your continent, nor have I ever been to The States, but I can guarantee you have quite a bit of support for your music over here in Africa. Was visiting with someone close to me recently and we got into a conversation about music. He brought your music up and mentioned that his favourite song is Metaphorical Massacre. His words later on -and I quote, “He has a lot of potential.” I couldn’t agree more.
I’m anxiously waiting for that first music video (please let it be Conquer or You Can Get It). You have the potential to bring real music back, for sure.

  3. Kass I’m just gonna say what I’ve been saying since I first heard your music: I am not usually a rap / R&B fan but your music bridges the gap for me. From composition to performance it is a style all it’s own!

  12. I thought it was good. I read the whole thing so it was interesting enough to not stop halfway through. It wasn’t ridiculous, mindless goals that are impossible to reach and your answers were educated and laid out in a good way that it wasn’t repetitive and unbelievable.
