IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?
JAE STEW: I was born in Denver, Colorado. My father was murdered when I was about 2 years old. My mother remarried and I lived in California for about 10 years. That’s where I grew up. I moved to Clovis/Texico, New Mexico when I was about 12 where I lived with my grandmother until I was 17, when I graduated actually. I moved back to Denver Colorado in 2013 where I currently reside.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
JAE STEW: My mother used to listen to old R&B records all the time growing up, and my grandmother listen to old gospel music, blues, and country. By time I got old enough to listen to what I wanted to it was hip-hop. My music background is Hip Hop/ Rap. But I can’t really say that is all that my music would classify as. I have some songs that I have a lot of southern style in and other songs that are more thuggish. Basically every feeling you have I feel I have a song for that.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
JAE STEW: I have that spark to where I know that I’m going to sell records and do great things with this music because I know my talent can take me so far. With that being said, I know my versatility and motivation drives me to make classic records outside the box. I have a passion for music and all my music speaks of life experiences that I feel a lot of today’s generation can relate to. My music is the best way to let everyone know and see who JaeStew is!
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
JAE STEW: Life experiences that include my surroundings, people I have known/ or do know. I also make music that represents my personal goals and dreams as an artist.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
JAE STEW: Young Jeezy, Jay Z, Wiz Khalifa, Berner, Eminem, TuPac, Biggie, Mase, DMX, Snoop, Dr Dre, Ice Cube, Master P, and Baby.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
JAE STEW: My music gives people the motivation to be consistent and be a ” Go Getter”. I have a song for every type of emotion, situation, and I always put passion in every song. Not every song is thought out. But every song has meaning in my life. Something that every person in this day and time can relate too. You can chill burn something, drink something to get your mind right and believe me you are going to be bobbing your head to some of that stew, bet that.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
JAE STEW: I never put myself out there to be something that I’m not. I see many artists that are out trying to be like another artist. I found myself in music a very long time ago and I am not trying to be like anyone else. All I know is myself and I’m in my own lane I feel that other artists aren’t in. I’m going to give you something pure from me and nothing watered down like the rest of the people out here.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in your music career, and how did you overcome?
JAE STEW: One of my biggest challenges as an artist is trying to find out where I want to go with my music. The way that I overcame this is by staying versatile and willing to take challenges on with a “go getter” mentality. With my “gift”, any beat becomes my component to becoming the best that I can be. So I would say finding myself in music was my biggest challenge, Now it’s just having fun and keep doing what I’m doing and that’s grinding.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
JAE STEW: I am currently working on a new mixtape ” Walking Music” that I plan to release Spring 2015 and my album -title undecided in late winter 2015. I am working on videos for “Rich Berner Made The Beat” & “Makin That, “and of course, performing at shows!
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
JAE STEW: My career goals include traveling to different states to experience the music scene. I am not aiming to be with a major label. Independent will do me fine as long as I can tour and broadcast my music. I plan to branch out with my own clothing gear- basically best way put is this: “My name is my brand- and I’m going to take my brand global in any way possible” Clothes, jewelry, electronics, video production, music production, graphic design.
