IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

MADD SCIENTIST: I am from Bethany Oklahoma. It is a town that is a few minutes away from Oklahoma City’s metro area.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your musical background?

MADD SCIENTIST: I began my musical journey in elementary school. I sung in my church and school choir up until middle school. Then I learned how to play the cello and tuba. My early experiences made it easy for me to write songs and create compositions when I began doing my own music in the early part of 2000. A friend and I cut a demo and were about to release but, he ended up having to do some time in 2004. Since then I have made countless beats and songs. I released my debut album “Spaceship Muzik” in 2013, produced, written and composed by myself. I also released a mixtape with the World Famous DJ Young Cee(GUnit DJ’s called, “Unknown Yet Deadly”. I have also featured on a few mixtapes with Wutang Dj’s, Ambush 1&2 all last year.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

MADD SCIENTIST: My songs are a culmination of pain and struggle from personal experiences. I have been through a lot, and as I look back it’s a good thing because I have a lot of inspiration to draw from. My songwriting skills are quite versatile; I talk about my losses, blessings, street life, and relationship, pretty much everything. Sometimes I like to get away from serious subjects and be imaginative and creative but, still down to earth.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your favorite song to perform and why?

MADD SCIENTIST:   My favorite song to perform is “I Ain’t Tryna Land.” I love the energy of the songs beat, its really hyperactive and get the crowd hype with me.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What has surprised you the most in the pursuit of a career in music?

MADD SCIENTIST: What’s most surprising is getting messages and even working with a few professional representatives in my young career. I have been able to learn a few things on the business side that have helped me focus on more than just making the song. Being mentored and provided with essential music business knowledge is a blessing.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

MADD SCIENTIST: My musical influences are Nas, Outkast, Dj Quik, Dr Dre, E-40, Jay-Z, WuTang Clan, Jadakiss, Erykah Badu, Anita Baker, Sade… And the list goes on

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

MADD SCIENTIST: I like to call the music I create, “Spaceship Muzik”. It is so unique it feels like its been derived from an extraterrestrial source. My music is abnormal, eccentric, inspiring and thought provoking.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

MADD SCIENTIST: My beat selection and lyrics set me apart immediately because I don’t follow trends and current popular sounds. My music doesn’t quite fit into any specific category due to my versatility. I rarely curse or disrespect women in my songs so, just about anyone can listen and not be offended.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What would you like to see changed in today’s music industry?

MADD SCIENTIST: I would like to hear and see more artists with substance in their music be heard. Today’s music we hear on the radio is mostly about “Turning Up” and everybody trapping! I would like to hear more positive messages projected out to the masses but, it’s all about what sells.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

MADD SCIENTIST: My next project, Unique Grammar Material Vol 1 is in the mixing and mastering phase and is projected to release in Spring 2015. I am recording another project right now that I would like to release by fall or winter of 2015 as well. I’m also in the final phase e of launching my beat website, if anyone is interested in knowing when it launches they can follow me on twitter, @maddscientist_3 and I’ll update and release the link when it’s ready.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

MADD SCIENTIST: My main goal is actually having a solid career, being more knowledgeable about running a business and being a great artist/composer. Hopefully my next singles and projects will open up some doors and be the boost I need to reach different regions. My biggest goal is getting my music production library database started. I’m really intrigued with music licensing hence why I started my own publishing company, BEMYOWNBOSS ENT LLC. In 10 years I see myself making some noise as more than just an artist but, as a well rounded businessman. I see myself acquiring some major gigs and licensing via Film, TV, and video game companies.
