IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?
JXINK: I’m from the vibrant city of Toronto, ON Canada, but spend my entire childhood in the country of Grenada before the returning back at the age of 19
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
JXINK: Growing up my family always said my drive for music came from my father as he was in a band and affiliated with many musicians in his youth. I would listen my grand parents vinyl records every single Sunday. My uncle even had a walk-man and CD player I would take for myself when I was suppose to share with my peers. At a young age my aunt would have me write stories and my sister taught me to read. I was strung up on the power of words. At the age of 14 I picked up my pen and started writing songs and poems. After my first record at age 16, I had found something that kept my attention. I also picked up audio mixing as I didn’t have the funds or resources so I worked with what I had; from a microphone hanging from the ceiling. Since then I’ve been focus on the perfection of my craft, which I call audio-art.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
JXINK: My songs are about life from fun to sad life experiences in an artistic manner. My songs are stories I envision, seen, or heard. Like painters I count on the arsenal of words and phrase to help people understand, enjoy themselves while being informed in a form of entertainment.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your favorite song to perform and why?
JXINK: I would say “Cruze” feat. Sypz .The melody and every lyrics resonates with me every time I perform it. Without a care in the world I get caught into a deep trance compare to all of my previous work. I love that song. It was also made at a very confusing stage in my life and everyone who heard it fell in love. It’s addictive.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What has surprised you the most in the pursuit of a career in music?
JXINK: Business and promotion has surprised me the most. Everything from getting my music out to the right audience to finding ways that are really effective, to getting more people to hear my sound and build a genuine relationship on. The markets is saturated with many musicians and with technology it’s a blessing and curse for an underground artist because your sound can get lost in a deep pool sounds.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
JXINK: Musical influence comes from many musicians all from different genres. My musical influences range from reggae, pop, to hip-hop. To name a few; Jay Z, P Diddy, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Snoop Dogg, Timberland, Vybz Kartel, Buju Banton, Bunji Garlin, Michael Jackson, The Police and ABBA.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
JXINK: My music is energetic, diverse, futuristic and soothing. My songs are catchy and have depth. My music is versatile. There is a song for everyone to connect with.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
JXINK: I have a unique voice, and with the skills in which I’ve built around it, I have a fresh unparalleled sound. I don’t limit myself. I’m always looking to grow my talent so I experiment with different styles and techniques. You could relate me to a chemist as I create a captivating sound audio-art. I express my thoughts as a poet. I have a unique sound that captures people’s attention.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What would you like to see changed in today’s music industry?
JXINK: The appreciation of good music that last a lifetime not just for a season then dissolves off in the minds of people.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects that you are currently working on?
JXINK: I’m working on a mixtape for the first quarter of 2015 called “Lost in Black BLVD,” and a joint project later in 2015
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
JXINK: I want to be seen as a known innovative, creative and respected artist. I want to build a strong embedded brand in fashion, technology with several businesses and non-profit organization. I will be a professional audio engineer with sharp knowledge and education at a high level of personal development. The possibilities are endless; 10 years will be a milestone greatness measured by determination and self-discipline.
