IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?
BRANDONAIRE_YC: I was born in Oklahoma City. I now live in Seattle Washington, soon to be living back in California to pursue some more acting work.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
BRANDONAIRE_YC: My name is Brandon but most people know me by Brandonaire_YC. The “Y” “C” stands for Young Crookz, that’s where my music came from. When my brother “Nuka Camonte” and I were younger we came up with that name because we had to do things we never done to have the things we never had. My brother and I would make beats and he would rap. I’m the producer. I mix and master and audio engineer because that’s what I’m good at and that’s what I’m sticking to. We then found people that knew how to rap as well. We would all rap together, and then one day the homeboy “Tyler” made a little studio in his house with the mic an a computer with Pro Tools on it. We start testing it out and we was doing good until he moved out. I then had to bring the studio to my house, and from that I have had the opportunity to work with over 50+ different artists in Seattle Washington. I have made so many songs it’s ridiculous. Everyone I worked with had their own unique style, and nobody was the same. That’s what made me love music that much more.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
BRANDONAIRE_YC: The songs that I make are really about everything and I mean everything to the money, cars, life, death, guns, struggle, wealthy, healthy, clubs, girls, drugs, alcohol, family, uplifting, motivational, lyrical, soulful. I can pretty much make a song about anything.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your favorite song to perform and why?
BRANDONAIRE_YC: My favorite song to perform is “Swat Boyz” It’s my favorite because of the process it took to make the song. I made the song better than it was suppose to be, and now I get to perform it. It brings more energy then the other songs, and one of my close friend who was like a brother was a part of that song and sadly to say he passed away. I miss him everyday that he’s gone. He used to always say F.L.O.S.S because it was “ Fly Life Over Sucka S***, R.I.P Damarius Morgan aka Suave.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What has surprised you the most in the pursuit of a career in music?
BRANDONAIRE_YC: What really surprised me in my pursuit of my music career is that I see a lot of people that say they want to be the best rapper alive and then just stop rapping. They stop rapping because the fame or the success is not coming fast enough. They think it’s going to happen overnight, but it doesn’t so they give up. I think that is so weak because they’re so talented, but they just don’t want to put in the effort or they won’t invest in themselves.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
BRANDONAIRE_YC: The biggest music influences in my life are: Dr Dre, Jay-Z, Timbaland, Pharrell, Kanye West, DJ Mustard, Mannie Fresh, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Lord Finesse, J Dilla, DJ Quik, Devin the Dude, Snoop Dogg, The Foreign Exchange, A Tribe Called Quest, Outkast, Big KRIT, JCole, Kendrick Lamar, and Lloyd Banks. There’s so many more names that I could say. I could go on forever because really I don’t have a favorite genre. I love all of it. I’m very open minded to music, I’ll give anything a shot if it sounds good in the first 30 seconds
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
BRANDONAIRE_YC: There are so many songs. There are so many descriptions. I like to ask my fans what kind of music they like, and then I will go find the song that I think they would feel the most. I would describe it as exciting, energetic, lyrical, soulful, crunk, hype, and smooth.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
BRANDONAIRE_YC: What makes me stand out from other artists is that I am multi-talented. I do mixing and mastering, producing, promotion, graphic designs, photography, video editing. Just call me “Brandonaire The Young Entrepreneur”
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What would you like to see changed in today’s music industry?
BRANDONAIRE_YC: What I would like to see change in today’s music industry is the images that they portray. For example, giving somebody an image and they know that that’s not that person but it looks good to the public. I really don’t know why they don’t put out something that’s real and not fake. For example, like black man being a young thug but has a gay image. I don’t understand that and why does he have to be a young thug and gay and represent all the black community. Like for real, I’m not trying to be a part of that.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects that you are currently working on?
BRANDONAIRE_YC: Some of the project that I’m working on right now is my clothing line “One Of A Kind”. I am also working on new songs every week or every other week, and more shows
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
BRANDONAIRE_YC: Some of my career goals are music, fashion, shows, Tours, and graphic designs. I’m trying to do all of them at the same time because I’m a hard worker. I love to multi-task.
In 10 years I’ll be 35 and in 10 years I’m trying to make a lot happen for myself. I want to build a company that has all five career goals in one spot. I want to create a place where everybody can come and find a new resource to exactly what they’re looking for. I also want to have a studio, a store, graphic design studio and a photography area as well. I want my company to eventually grow into a franchise.
