IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

DJ CORY ANDREWS: Toronto, Ontario Canada

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

DJ CORY ANDREWS: I’m currently a DJ/Producer I am able to create remixes and give songs a whole new sound and vibe. Which in turn allows me to reach multiple fan bases

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

DJ CORY ANDREWS: I believe music is the soundtrack to everyone’s life it provides that moment where you can escape from everyday life. To be able to provide fans and music listeners with a creative twist to a song basically makes a connection and as an artist you become a part of someone’s memory and an outlet to everyday life.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

DJ CORY ANDREWS: Majority of my songs come through life situations I’ve been in or a part of from amazing times to sometimes low times (relationships, struggles, feelings, thoughts, memories). I put a great deal of feelings into the music I release and its from what I’ve lived or have seen.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

DJ CORY ANDREWS: My song base is geared towards all type of fan demographics but to narrow it down I would say the ages will vary from ages 16-40 and sometimes older. As for gender its majority female but the male listeners are starting to balance out the fan base.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

DJ CORY ANDREWS: DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Jam Master J, DJ Kid Capri, Chris Shepard, Deadmau5, Skrillex, Linkin Park. Although I have a lot of major influences, here are the key influences.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

DJ CORY ANDREWS: My music is very versatile and there is something for almost every type of listener. To some it makes the song much better and to others it is just a very unique sound that is trending, and it brings the track to another level of enjoyment and entertainment.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

DJ CORY ANDREWS: I feel that the EDM Scene is really taking off and that if I can merge the hip-hop, R&B, old-school and urban culture vibes into that scene it could be extraordinary and add a even larger fan base to the EDM Scene. I feel that I am the artist who is capable of crossing the genres and really making some history. I don’t really see other artists stepping over that dividing line (Hip-hop, R&B, Dance, House), I see a lot of artist testing that divide but no one really crossing it like I have done. Most artists are sticking to their genres and sampling other styles, where as I’m throwing it right in and risking everything and with great success and all the positive feedback. I’m proving it can be done.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

DJ CORY ANDREWS: Everyday I’m working on something new or testing sounds with other songs. Music today is changing and a part of that change has fans wondering what could a track sound like if a deceased artist was able to be reborn into today’s music stream. I have many projects on the go and am glad to say I’ve been working on a lot of new sounds to bridge these upcoming releases.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

DJ CORY ANDREWS: My goals are to put out great music and just create something that people can relate to and enjoy. Remixing songs and being in that spotlight following my dreams and playing to the fans is what its all about. In ten years time I see myself helping other artist trying to break into this industry as well as working with many other artists on albums and just following a path that many said is impossible to achieve. I can see myself on stages and at various events building and creating memories with fans and being a part of something much greater and just living my life to the fullest.
