IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

POOKIE MARLIL: I was born and raised in the lower ninth ward of New Orleans, LA.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

POOKIE MARLIL: Throughout my time in middle and high school I performed as a snare drummer in both school’s bands. I grew up listening to Jazz, Hip Hop, R&B and Blues music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

POOKIE MARLIL: Since the age of 12 I’ve had a passion for recording and producing music, becoming an icon in the music industry has been my life long dream. It also serves as the means to support my family (five children) and develop a more stable lifestyle for their future.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

POOKIE MARLIL: My songs are a reflection of my lifestyle, my struggles, my accomplishments and all of the things I see in our society.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

POOKIE MARLIL: My fan base ranges from the ages of 15 to people in their late 40’s, across all genders.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

POOKIE MARLIL: My musical influences range from jazz, blues, hip-hop and R&B artist, such as Louis Armstrong, BB King, Jay Z and R.Kelly. Rap Mogul Jay Z has been one of my biggest influences because of his work ethic, his ability to build brands and his determination to never give up on what he believes in.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

POOKIE MARLIL: My music is the direct reflection of our younger generation’s culture and lifestyles. It also showcases the everyday struggle of trying to make a dollar out of fifth teen cents.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

POOKIE MARLIL: I stand out from other artist because I don’t try to fit in with everyone else. Instead of following trends I set them. I also am self-produced, I record my own music, and I produce my own instrumentals and record my own music videos.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

POOKIE MARLIL: I am currently working on my second self-produced album entitled “Until It Works.” “Until It Works” is currently scheduled for release around the late summer of 2015.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

POOKIE MARLIL: As an artist my career goals are as follows, brand my name “Pookie Marlil” across the entire world, perform across the world for hundreds of thousands of people, and win multiple Grammy’s for my music. As a producer my career goals are as follows: work with a variety of different artist and different genres, become the number one go-to guy for the best quality of instrumental and production, and win multiple Grammy’s for my song productions. My career goals as a company are as follows, brand the company name across the entire world, find and develop new artist into house hold names in the music industry and become the biggest label and production company in the music industry.
