IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?
COREY COKA: I’m from Denver, Colorado
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
COREY COKA: My music background began when I started making music at age 15. I formed a group with my friend, Ricky Jewelz aka Ryan Alan, in middle school and we called our group ‘Cocaine Click.’ After several years of putting out music together I released several solo mixtapes leading to my first major viral release entitled ‘Classic Crackery’ volume 1-2 hosted by DJ Wats. DJ Wats and I also introduced the world to the much anticipated instrumental mixtape series ‘Cokestrumentals’ volume 1-3 setting a new standard for Denver artist as well as producers.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
COREY COKA: With my latest worldwide release of ‘Blacc Ashes’ mixtape hosted by Dj Suspense, Dj Mellz 1017, and Dj Lyrical, I feel like I’m on the verge of paving my way into the industry and setting the bars high for Denver, Colorado.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
COREY COKA: My favorite song to perform is “Wit My Amigos” because it brings that hype feeling which will get the whole audience dancing and having a good time with fellow people that are at the show.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
COREY COKA: In the pursuit of a career in music I would say DJ Wats hosting my mixtape’s surprised me the most because he has worked with a lot of big names in the industry such as Kayne West, Wiz Khalifa, Soulja Boy, and more. Some of my musical influences are Jay-Z, Eminem, Ludacris, Dipset, Lil Wayne, Meek Mill, Cassidy, Soulja Boy, Gucci Mane, Bone Thugs and more.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
COREY COKA: If I were to describe my music to someone I would say that once you hear my music it’s addicting and you’re going to want to keep hearing more. I see my music evolving with the industry and media because I feel like my music is very versatile, unique.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
COREY COKA: I stand out from other artist because not only do I rap, I can also produce beats and engineer. My curiosity of how music is created basically inspired me to learn how to make beats and mix and master my own music. I would listen to my music to improve my sound and learn numerous of formulas and techniques. Once I got confident with my material I branded my name Corey Coka and started to market my beats as Corey Coka Productions. One thing I would change about the game is giving rappers inspiration to make their own beats, and rapping on them for an album.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
COREY COKA: Currently, my upcoming projects I’m working on are Classic Crackery 3, Cokestrumentals 4, and Blacc Ashes 2.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
COREY COKA: My immediate goals are to make royalties with my music whether it’s going viral, my productions being on sound scores, or Grammy nominations. I see myself in ten years owning a website where people can purchase my beats and other producers can upload, promote and sell their own work as well but there will be a monthly fee to subscribe for uploads. I also want to have my own clothing line to support the culture of my music.
