IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

YOUNG $UAVE: I originally hail from Trenton, New Jersey, but I currently reside in Minneapolis, MN.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

YOUNG $UAVE: My music background was implemented in me when I was about eight years old. I remember when my mother would invite all her friends and our family over every Saturday to watch me sing, with a tip jar out on the table. From those childhood experiences I fell in love with the art of music and began to improve my craft. I later on got heavily involved with my church band and started playing the drums, and singing on Sunday mornings. I fell in love with hip hop at the age of ten. Emcees such as Notorious B.I.G., Nas, Tupac, etc. influenced the way I approach my music today. I started writing music my junior year of high school, music was always, and will always be my escape from all the burdens of life. I realized my potential my 1st year out of high school, and began to chase this dream. I represent G.F.M., which stands for Good Fellas Music. The group is made up of three artist including Neno Dalla, Y.A, and myself, and all we strive to do is make better music for the world to listen to. My music background is very strong and versatile at this stage in my early career, due to the fact that I’ve been around good music all of my life.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

YOUNG $UAVE: I want to release, and record my own music, not for the fame or the fortune, but to provide music that will be around forever. I want my music to be relevant even in the next generation, just like Biggie Smalls music effected my generation. Music is more then a hobby to me, it’s a craft that I desperately want, and to perfect at, and hopefully be able to provide for my family in the way I want to, and the way they need me to.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

YOUNG $UAVE:I firmly believe that music is just simply stories being told in a different way. For me I like to tell stories of my everyday life on a beat that fits the concept. For example my latest single “Cruisin” was thought of while I was going on a drive with my homeboys. And my brother Neno Dalla said “man all we do is cruise in this car”, I got home, and that same night the song was written, produced and recorded. My songs are glimpses and everyday scenarios of my life. All in all my songs are foreshadowing my future, but explaining the present at the same time.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

YOUNG $UAVE: My music influences are mixed between to different genres, and eras. I listen to a lot of old R&B music, artist such as Sam Cooke, Teddy Pendergrass, Michael Jackson, James Brown, and more. As for hip hop, Notorious B.I.G. has a big influence on my music, being from the east coast I’ve grown accustom to being open to any type of music. The Fugees, A Tribe Called Quest, Tupac, Nas, De La Soul, and many more also inspired me to pursue my career.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

YOUNG $UAVE:I would describe my music to people as stadium music. When I first began rapping my good friend Neno Dalla told me I used too much profanity in my music. I began to read the dictionary, and thesaurus on a daily basis to find words to use rather then curse words. When I describe my music as stadium music, it means that anybody can move to it, its appropriate for kids to listen to, and mainly it can be performed in big stadiums, such as the super bowl half time show, which is a goal of mine I plan to accomplish.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

YOUNG $UAVE:I think what sets me apart from other artist’s is my mindset, and my ambition. My mind is set on being successful, and relevant in this music industry for a very long time to come. I have a goal that I have to reach and my ambition will most definitely get me there. Most dudes with rap dreams only want that 2 million dollar deal, make a few hits and fade away. I plan on making good music, and making a lot more money then 2 million. Work ethic is key, and that’s what sets me apart.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in your music career and how did you overcome?

YOUNG $UAVE: The hardest obstacle in my career so far was opening up at the Juicy J show in Mankato. The promoter for the show was very hard to work with because of organizational skills. He put on the itinerary that we would have sound check at 3 o’clock p.m. and never showed up for it. I like to do things accordingly, and this particular promoter did things a lot differently. I got through it by fulfilling all the requirement’s asked of me on the contract, and gave Mankato a great show.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

YOUNG $UAVE: Right now I have just been dropping singles on my Soundcloud, and Reverbnation. But I have decided to begin working on my first official project titled “The West Coast Project”. This project will be very smooth, filled with really good music the drop date is still TBA.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

YOUNG.$UAVE: My career goals are simple. I want to make it in the industry first and foremost; I then want to record as many albums as possible and have at least four of them go platinum. I also want to put the MN rap scene on international radar by giving the same kind of opportunities that have been given to me! In 10 years I plan to be very successful in the music industry because I know I have the drive, and ambition to do so. I also want to involve myself in a lot of other areas involving entertainment.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How can your fans access your music and contact you?

YOUNG $UAVE: My fans can find me on Facebook, Twitter, Reverb nation, and Soundcloud. I come from humble beginnings so always feel free to contact me! I just want the opportunity to make hits, and support my mother, and my siblings, and if I am granted that opportunity I wont disappoint.
