IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

UGGLY BOY: I was born in Torrington, WY on June 16, 1989. My parents moved to Cheyenne, WY in 1990 and that is where I was raised.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

UGGLY BOY: I started freestyle rapping and forming lyrical content at age eight. When I was sixteen is when I started producing music. I developed musical style for multiple artists as well as myself.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

UGGLY BOY: My songs vary from love, depression, anxiety, hate and sadness. I write about my life. Most of my songs have a personal meaning to them. My music represents my views on life or how I’m feeling at that point in time.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your favorite song to perform and why?

UGGLY BOY: I love performing all of my songs so that is a tough question. If I have to choose, I would say “All They Do is Hate”. The energy and lyrical contact behind it is beyond immaculate. The crowd really gets into and the energy they give off gets me hyped up. It’s an amazing feeling.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What has surprised you the most in the pursuit of a career in music?

UGGLY BOY: The pursuit of music has been more fun than I could have thought possible. I knew it would be exciting but being in the spotlight and seeing how people respond to my music is indescribable. Knowing people are into your music is an insanely positive feeling.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

UGGLY BOY: Most of the artists that inspire me are underground artists. Their ideas and abilities really inspire me. They help me realize there are no limits to the creativity that can come with music. It’s alright to be unique and create your own sound.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
UGGLY BOY: I would describe my music as real. I speak from my heart and people can hear the emotion and feeling come out of it. My music is based off my life and things I have gone through.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
UGGLY BOY: Other artists talk mostly about money, drugs and women. My songs are creative. I write with metaphors and take time to make them fun and  outside the box. My tone is expressive and I put my all into every song I put out there.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What would you like to see changed in today’s music industry?

UGGLY BOY: A change I would really get into would be for people to support their local artists and not just the artists that have already made it big. There is a lot of talent that goes unnoticed due to people not showing their local artists support. I would also like to see more diversity in the lyrics that artists are using. People can learn through music and I feel there is a lot to be introduced through hearing what other people have to say lyrically.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects that you are currently working on?

UGGLY BOY: I’m currently working on a mixtape with an upcoming label in Cheyenne called SOYG. There are a few other local artists working on it and it’s full of unique sounds and ideas. I will be featured on five songs on that album. It has been a blast working with other artists on a label that represents uniqueness and local sound.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

UGGLY BOY: In ten years, I see myself owning my own production company. I also see myself staging my own shows. The way I see it, inspiring others and showing the audience that anything is possible is my main goal, while at the same time doing what I love and that’s music.
