IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?
JAY VINCHI: I reside downtown in the beautiful Detroit, Michigan and spend most of my time exploring this artistically rich city. Due to the fact I’m living in this environment, the artistic qualities of Detroit have become a huge part of who I am and what it is I do.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
JAY VINCHI: My musical background is an interesting one with many different influences and reasons. It all started when I was about 5 years old, I would spend hours writing music and playing my father’s guitar. He was a very musical individual as well, he played many instruments and wrote a ton of lyrics in his younger days for his band. I spent so much time listening to music which was an awesome way to get into music as a whole. The writing transformed into Hip-Hop when I saw a video of Eminem and 50 Cent and was interested by how entertaining it was. It never became a huge part of my life until the age of 13, that was when I recorded my first song over a Gucci beat, and before it was terrible quality. From 13 until 17 I built on my ability and released unprofessional music to my peers in the form of hard copy CD mixtapes to better grasp my skills and give me time to develop a strong business mindset, then at 18 I began working with a talent firm from Beverly Hills. The name “Jay Vinchi” came to me and resulted in the beginning of my professional career in August, 2014, one month before my 19th birthday.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
JAY VINCHI: Recording music, to me, is beautiful and is like a picture taken of my imagination and thoughts. When I record something new it’s everything that makes me, ME, coming out into words and creating an energy and feeling that listeners simply can’t ignore. I say it is like a picture because one song could make you dance for hours, one could make you feel my pain, and one could make you vibe with my flows in a classic and lyrical manner. Once that picture is taken, it will never fade, but the emotions associated with it could change and that’s when we take even more “pictures”. It’s a wonderful and very fulfilling process that has endless possibilities and limitless potential.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
JAY VINCHI: My songs are about happiness, excitement, a feeling of living to achieve your dreams and become everything you ever imagined. These records bring people a feeling that I uniquely supply, the listener gets to step into my mindset and attitude and allow it to brush off on themselves. Don’t get me wrong, my music can bring out deep emotions and intense thinking at times, which can make my fans connect with me on a much more personal level. Overall, my music is about life, what we experience, what drives us as people, and what connects me to you as the awesome listener.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?
JAY VINCHI: My fan base isn’t directly pointed in one particular direction but it carries a very similar characteristic throughout everyone; my fans are very open minded and energetic people who share a similar love for high quality lyrics, great musical taste, and catchy choruses that make you dance and feel terrific. The ages of my fans can range from 13-50 since I have so many unique styles and musical interests. 30-50 year old fans will enjoy the music where I have classic singers featured from different genres while creating my own new style all at once and entirely redefining great music. I make club music as well, raw hip hop, catchy melodies, but who wouldn’t like a Frank Sinatra or an Ozzy Osbourne singing a chorus then I get beautifully lyrical with it during verses? All those styles can attract different ages, so now you see why my fan base can branch out to so many people (mass appeal).
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
JAY VINCHI: My musical influences range all across the board, but from a Hip-Hop standpoint I must give credit to many of the greatest. Mainly I would have to say I was influenced by the lyrical and flow abilities of some of my favorite artists such as Eminem, Andre 3000, Nas, A Tribe Called Quest, Melly Mel, Dr Dre, Tupac, Biggie, and even over to the new guys that hold this generation strong such as Kendrick, J Cole, Dizzy Wright, Mac Miller, Chance The Rapper, and Action Bronson just to name a few of many.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
JAY VINCHI: My music is my personal outlet for all of the emotions built up inside of me. This music is a vision of myself in the most artistic and lyrical way possible, one which expresses every type of mood one can be in that creates a sense of freedom and surrealism. In summary, I would say my music is as real as it gets to my mind and soul, I make my thoughts breath for both you and I’s entertainment.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
JAY VINCHI: I stand out from other artists due to who I am, the way I care about my music, my level of professionalism at such a young age, my ability to treat my live shows with such passion, and my undeniable dedication to always going a step above and never feeling complete or good enough with not achieving greater. Of course, the fact that I am such a young age but have a mind years older than most of my peers has its impact on making me stand out, I have everything I dream to do planned out and visualized inside of my brain.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
JAY VINCHI: Currently, I am working on several singles to release alongside music videos through all of my distribution outlets. My debut album is not currently planned because I want to be in a position for my first album to tremendously succeed rather than drop it on a very small budget and have that stick with me through my whole career as my debut. Be ready for many new singles and videos and well as many “day in the life” styled videos.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
JAY VINCHI: My career goals stretch out far in every direction. The issue in the industry today is so many new artists seem happy when they finally get some money or a deal, they seem to get satisfaction easily and slow their hustle, but that is not me. In 10 years I seek to own a large scale independent label through a major that will be responsible for an several large music festivals year after year, be on constant tours, and be developing artists to have the same success I experienced. I desire being involved in many beneficial avenues to help better our world.
