IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

MEIDAI: I’m from Oxnard California, about 45 miles north of Los Angeles. I used to live about a mile from Port Hueneme Beach so every day we were always getting into something. Fishing playing in the streets from morning till night. In 2002 moved to San Diego, California which has been home to me ever since. No place in this world will beat a burrito from Oxnard and I will drive 2 hours for one.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

MEIDAI: I started out at the age of 5 making beats on a little known program named Mix Masters Dj. From there I started playing the clarinet and writing raps to WWE theme music. I’m 1st cousins with a couple of the original Temptations. As I got older I studied music more all genres, I received my certificate from college in audio engineering. Along with producing for myself and others I started to pursue a rap career even more. I originally started off as a producer making beats for people at school and around my neighborhood. One day I decided to take rapping more seriously I made a couple songs and got a great reaction and from there the rest is history.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

MEIDAI: To me, music is therapy. After writing and recording to see the reaction of complete strangers the fact that they love the thoughts that come from my head is therapeutic. When fans send me letters telling me that I inspire them and that my music puts them in a zone makes me feel good. And to me creating music is something that I know I’m good at that the average person cannot defeat me in. I put 200% into my records and to me if I sell 1 or 1 million I will continue to record and release music. Even in a producing aspect I will never stop.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

MEIDAI: The majority of my songs are based of my life and things that I’ve been through and experienced. The good the bad the ugly and funny I lay it all out into my music. The way I start of a song is depending on my mood unless I’m featuring on someone else song. But I always go into a new song with the same mind frame of putting my best out there and making the next song better than the last. Relationships, hard times and the good nothing is off limits. My songs are about the struggle to want to be better and do better for myself and those around me who depend on me.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

MEIDAI: I would say my music is directed towards the people who feel as if they don’t have a voice to speak for them. I say what others are afraid to say so I feel I’m a voice for a group of people who like me are considered outcast. On the flip side anyone can relate to my messages and my music. I make music for the ones who just want to go ape shit on the world but think about the consequences before reacting.
