IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

JoN De PLedge: I am from Chicago, Illinois.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

JoN De PLedge:  Well, I am a Hip Hop recording artist who started pursuing music at 21. I did open mic events, performed at a big festival in Chicago called Puerto Rican Day Parade. I’ve been featured in Hip Hop Weekly magazine in the fall of 2014 and had a music video on a few big networks like MTV, Music Choice, and VH1.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

JoN De PLedge: Because it’s music that I can relate to, music that I can enjoy for myself. There’s so much pollution in today’s music that I find myself going back to the archives for relief. I need to hear music with style again, music with soul, originality, music that has balance, I believe I have just that.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

JoN De PLedge:  My songs are about a lot of topics anything from partying, lost loved ones, peer pressure, mentality in the hoods, being unique, excepting yourself  to missed opportunities, up and down relationships, poverty and etc.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

JoN De PLedge: My music is directed towards anyone who enjoys listening to it first off, because some people might not be able to relate to my songs but they still love it. Also it’s for people who’ve dealt with obstacles in their life and people who are ok with not being in the “in crowd” where everyone follows ridiculous trends and try their best to be excepted by society.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

JoN De PLedge:  There are many but the main ones are Kanye West & Jay-Z. Now, had it not been for artists like A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Lupe Fiasco and Heavy D I would have never found my sound so they are on that list as well.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

JoN De PLedge:  My music is fun, it’s funny, it’s cool, it’s jazzy at times and it just gives you that old feeling people use to get when they hear something new that sounds timeless. I hate cliches, but it literally is a breath of fresh air.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

JoN De PLedge:  What makes me stand out is most likely my sound, meaning the tone of my voice, it’s very smooth. Another thing that stands out about me is the passion behind my songs I put a lot of soul into lyrics. I also have little messages or meanings behind songs. Overall I try to have fun, so when fans hear my music they can hear me enjoying what I do.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

JoN De PLedge:  Well, right now I am just promoting an LP titled Supa CooL that I released in May of 2015 it’s been my main focus because I had so much fun putting it together. I want to shoot a few more visuals for songs off the LP and get more eyes and ears on this project so that I may eventually go on tour.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

JoN De PLedge: I see myself and my name being well established, a household name by then. Someone whom has not only become incredibly successful in music but also in other opportunities that come my way like acting and voice over work. The overall goal is to be an artist young musicians would aspire to be one day, an icon.
