IAA INDUSTRY NEW: What city and state are you from?

K. MILL: I was born in New Haven, CT, and I was raised in Bucksport, SC.

IAA INDUSTRY NEW: What is your music background?

K MILL: My music background was based on the people I was around. I really enjoyed listening to pop, R&B, & hip-hop. I always could impersonate any artist and learn their song in hours. I knew I could definitely be an artist of my own. I’m open to doing country music, pop, and other genres.

IAA INDUSTRY NEW: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

K. MILL: I really want to touch people’s hearts and really be all I can be when it comes to music. When I’m dead and gone, through music I shall live forever.

IAA INDUSTRY NEW: What are your songs about?

K. MILL: My songs are about things I’ve gone through and things I’ve seen growing up. I touch basis with the streets, the club, the ladies, kids, and more. I also wrote an R&B song for myself and found an R&B singer to sing it. My favorite song by myself is called “Hardest Thing.” It is a song about my infidelity to my then girlfriend whom I had a baby on. I cried writing it. My music could be about any and everything.

IAA INDUSTRY NEW: Who is your fan base directed towards?

K. MILL: My fan base is directed towards anybody who can relate to me. I have had 8-year -old children telling me how they love my music. Older people love my topics as well. I want to aim for every ethnicity possible. I want to make timeless music!

IAA INDUSTRY NEW: Who are your musical influences?

K. MILL: My musical influences are rappers who have been in the game since I was a young boy such as, Nelly, T.I, Jay Z, Lil Wayne, Gucci Mane, and Jeezy. They have longevity in this business, and that’s what I want and need.

IAA INDUSTRY NEW: How would you describe your music to people?

K. MILL: I would say my music tells a story about my life and my various struggles. I let the listeners know who I am, what I been through, what we do in the club, even down to the bedroom. I can make music about anything.

IAA INDUSTRY NEW: What makes you stand out from other artists?

K. MILL: I would have to say I stand out because I’m different. Although everybody is similar in some kind of way, I’m very diverse. I will do what it takes to win. I grew up struggling and to be honest I still am. When you can touch people’s hearts and soul through music it’s a blessing. I want to be an investment, an entrepreneur. Not just a kid who can rap. I can act as well.

IAA INDUSTRY NEW: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

K. MILL: I’m working on not being local anymore. It’s bigger than South Carolina. I really need the opportunity to record new material and start from scratch. I can’t make a song without someone wanting to get on it. I have a mixtape out called “Da Best Unsigned” Lokal Threat PT:1, and I have enough songs for another one.

IAA INDUSTRY NEW: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

K. MILL: My career goals are to be a successful artist, business owner & entrepreneur. I want to put other people in situations like the one I’m in. I want to give my kids the opportunity to be successful as well. 10 years from now I see myself owning a few business, while building relationships with other successful people. I want to have my own record label with top of the line artists. I want to be comfortable with my life in 10 years.
