IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?
LIL TAE: I am from Baltimore, MD.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
LIL TAE: For the past three years, I have been dominating the music scene. I went from being homeless and sleeping in my car to winning “Artist of the Year” and even “Mixtape of the Year” for, Closer To My Dreams, mixtape. I have opened up for artist on major platforms, such as Lil Boosie, Ace Hood, Lil Durk, and even Trinidad James. I have appeared on Worldstar Hip Hop a few times and even got videos directed by Chicago’s own Dgainz, who had worked closely with Chief Keef, Lil Durk, Twister, and more.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
LIL TAE: My songs are about life growing up in the struggle and particular living in Baltimore City. I tend to get personal in my records speaking on my trials and tribulations. I know it’s other people living in the world that experienced the same hard times so I just want to give them hope. What makes me special is the fact that even though I rap about the struggle, I don’t let that limit me. I still am able to make songs that can spin in the clubs and on the radio. So In other words, I know the correct time to make a personal track and when to make a club banger track.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
LIL TAE: My favorite song to perform is “My Letter To The Labels”, because the audience can feel the pain and anger in that track and when I’m done, they just look amazed and I know I have caught their attention.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?
LIL TAE: Hands down, my kids have inspired me the most in pursing my music career. They give me the motivation to tell my story and never give up.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
LIL TAE: My music influences are Tupac, Yo Gotti, and Meek Mill.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
LIL TAE: I would describe my music as a grasp of fresh air. Something new and aggressive but yet still have that it factor. I would describe my music as versatile trap soul.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
LIL TAE: Besides my story, just the fact that I’m versatile really helps me stand out from others. I don’t have a typical “Baltimore sound”. I have my own unique style of aggressive rapping where I make them feel everything I have to say. Even if they don’t like the music, they will respect me as a man. I would like to see the styles of music go back to being original and creative. I feel the music industry has a lot of artist that sound the same. I like when an artist has a story line behind his/her music. Basically, I love what Hip Hop used to be─real music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
LIL TAE: I am currently pushing my Closer To My Dreams 3 Project. It has a lot of dope records on there. It sounds like an album actually. So, CTMD3 is what I’m focused on right now.
