IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

YOUNG LAWAND: I’m from Kurdistan, Sulemaniah.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

YOUNG LAWAND: Growing up I use to listen to a lot of different music until the years of 2006. I start listening to rap music and there was a show at my country called “Mn Jyawazim” which means “I’m Different”. The show was about people doing other things that makes them so different from others, such as acting, dancing, and rapping. One day I was like I know I can be something too, so I went to grab a mic and start making songs. After a year I had my very own K-Shadow Music Group, which contained about 4 members, all hard work and still continuing to make bigger moves and more music everyday.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

YOUNG LAWAND: I make music for the moment. It’s my passion and I love making music I enjoy every second of it and this all started when I was known in my country. My friends use to call me and tell me “Hey, they are playing you’re songs here.” It was a great feeling for me to be able to make my music here in USA so that people from Kurdistan listen to it, and almost everyone shows me love and tells me continue more.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

YOUNG LAWAND: My songs vary, I rap, and sign about a lot of different ideas. They range from struggle to life. I rap about what I do everyday on my daily basis. I love making R&B songs, I also rap about girls and money

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

YOUNG LAWAND: My fan base is towards a wide variety of listeners. People from Kurdistan and other cities listens to my songs, I believe I can connect to make a wide variety of listeners here in USA.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

YOUNG LAWAND: My music influences are very diverse, I listen to a lot of rap music like Tupac, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, Wiz Khalifa, Juicy J, T.I, Snoop Dogg, Dr.Dre, I also listen to other genres to like R&B or Country Music and EDM.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

YOUNG LAWAND: I have been working fervently on my own production skills, the music you hear from me is something you wouldn’t expect. Every time I listen to a instrumental I’m about to use I just start with doing freestyles over the beat. For me personally, I mainly worry about hooks first when I’m writing down a song, then I freestyle my verses most times.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

YOUNG LAWAND: I’m not only a rapper or singer, but my lyrics are very different from the rappers from my Country.  Also the beats I use are different. I buy them from real producers. The ideas I come up with are very different from other artists or when I’m on a track everyone know it’s Young Lawand by my K-Shadow sound effect.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

YOUNG LAWAND: Currently I just released a mixtape called. Project Protégé’ its on Datpiff. At this moment I’m working really hard with this new artist, and I’m trying to put him on one of my upcoming songs.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

YOUNG LAWAND: Just like I’m a Kurdish rapper, I also want to work my way up to the music industry. This is my dream. In 10 years I see myself having a successful career in the music industry
