IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

T.R. GODBOLD: I was born and raised in Detroit, MI. I spent summers as a young boy in McRoberts, Kentucky with my grandparents. I attended Detroit Henry Ford High School, where I played football my senior year earning All-PSL, All-City, All-Metro, and All-State First Teams honors. I earned a full football scholarship to Oklahoma State University, however, after one year I transferred to Rock Valley College located in Rockford, IL. There is where I earned Junior College All- American in football and my Associates degree in Liberal Arts. In 1997, I transferred to Temple University (Philadelphia, PA) with a football scholarship earning Temple Football “New Comer of The Year.” Unfortunately, a knee and groin injury hampered my performance. I received my Bachelor Degree in Sociology in 2001. I moved to New Jersey 2006 and live in Berlin, NJ with my wife and daughter.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

T.R. GODBOLD: I grew up around a musical family. My mother, Gail Marie Godbold-Ivory was a fluent clarinet player, an amateur singer, and a beautiful teen model. My father, John Anthony Lamb was a very good athlete and high school football player. After high school my father enlisted in the U.S Army and served in the Vietnam War. He’s also an ordained minister and a published book writer. My Dad was raised in a small church in McRoberts Kentucky, he was blessed with a strong voice and also plays many instruments including the piano, guitar and drums. My oldest brother, Markelo Ray Godbold excelled in basketball and boxing. He also was a skillful song writer and rap lyricist as a teen. His rap name was London Fog, he preformed at numerous venues in Detroit, MI. My younger sister, Latika Javana Ivory-Likely is a very creative hairstylist in Detroit, MI. She’s also blessed with a great voice and song writing skills. Latika listens to music relentlessly and also has an endless music collection of various old and current musical artist. My family was and still is very influential in my musical abilities as a song writer and performer. As I excelled as a top high school and college athlete, I would sing and dance with my mother around the house, play instruments with my father, write lyrics with my brother all while we played songs from my sisters extensive music collection of artists. Music has always been in my DNA and now its the right time to expose my creative musical talent to the world.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

T.R. GODBOLD: Music can be as creative as the artist wants it to be. Nothing is more personal than the expression of one’s heart felt lyrics. Music gives an emotional insight of the artist’s musical talent. The artist’s voice and creative lyrics can touch many people in various situations. Music can be motivational, enlightening and comforting in unmeasurable ways, leaving listeners and fans on emotional highs that push ones inner self to achieve whatever they want. I want to touch each and every fans’ inner soul with great emotion. That’s why I have chosen to release my own powerful and creative music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

T.R. GODBOLD: I enjoy writing songs that are motivational, inspiring, and patriotic. My first song is an Olympic song called “Bringing Home The Gold.” It’s an extremely high energy song with very powerful patriotic lyrics that are guaranteed to motivate and inspire the listener to always reach endlessly to achieve their goals. My second song “Gifted” is about the qualities that great athletes possess and the attributes that high achieving people need to possess in order to achieve great success in their occupation.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?

T.R. GODBOLD: My fan base is endless, because my lyrics and music will inspire all athletes.

My lyrics also capture the feelings of the enthusiast that support and watch sporting competitions. My music acts as a perfect musical back drop to listen to while watching games and sporting events. My music is an excellent sound wave connection bringing each enthusiast closer to the athletic experience. Athletes are mentally stimulated to perform at higher levels, when listing to my creative music and lyrics.

T.R. GODBOLD:   I am influenced by so many artists male and female. IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

T.R. GODBOLD: My lyrics are delivered with very high intensity. My voice has tremendous strength and power. My commanding voice is fueled from growing up in the tough inner city of Detroit. My motivation and intensity as a high school and college football captain and team leader, has taught me that my voice is one of the most powerful tools used to rally individuals to think big and perform with greatness. I am blessed with an impressive 6’5” 250 pounds physical stature and my imposing neanderthal gaze gives a unique stage presence, which helps me command my audiences. All of these intangible attributes are what make me stand out as an artist.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

T.R. GODBOLD: My up coming projects consist of performing my song “Bringing Home The Gold” in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for the 2016 Summer Olympic games and many performances for television shows and various venues in the United States of America and around the world.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

T.R. GODBOLD: I have huge career goals. The first goal is to land a license deal with the USA’s Olympic Committee, to perform and write patriotic songs for future Olympic games and events.

Secondly, I plan to write more music that’s driven by motivation for Ford Motor Company, Chrysler, GM, Lexus, Mercedes etc.

Thirdly, write inspiring music for sporting franchises and the NBA, NFL, MLB, UFC, etc.

Forth, write tasteful and quenching music jingles for beverage companies like Coca Cola, Pepsi, Budweiser, Heineken, Hennessy, Red Bull, Monster, etc.

Fifth, launch my own clothing line.

Sixth, produce and manufacture my U.S. patented fitness device and many more of my own innovative products.

In less then one decade I will be a huge successful brand and household name with the hottest motivational music on the planet. I will be blessed with endless growth and wealth, licensing my creative music, fitness products, TV shows, acting, clothing lines, etc. and approaching billionaire status.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What inspires you to do music?

T.R. GODBOLD: I am inspired to create music because of all of the accomplishments and the failures I have endured. Music gives me a way to express the emotional highs and low’s life has imposed on me. My music also expresses to my fans that I empathize with their situations including hardships and achievements. The inspiration felt from listening to music is not only expressed through sound but is also communicated by way of body language, facial expressions and attire. All attributes of a musical artist’s performance play a huge part in delivering great music that fans can really feel, understand, relate to, be inspired by, and cause motivation in times of need.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What do you hope to bring to the music industry?

T.R. GODBOLD: My creative lyrics bring an innovative style of music that’s based on factual information, statistics and motivation. My music makes my fans not only groove along with it but leaves them enlightened with statistical facts and authentic real life topics and information.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What image do you think your music conveys ?  

T.R. GODBOLD: My music conveys inspirational motivation, informative content, and a patriotic attitude that my fans and followers seek. My fans can see that my lyrics convey much more than rhymes, my creative music and lyrics exude all aspects life experiences.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What made realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?

T.R. GODBOLD: Music has always played a huge part in my life, for as long as I can remember. Music is mostly responsible for motivating me in just about every aspect of my life. I use music to push me through tough times, may it be a relationship break up, exercising in the gym, or motivating me before a big game. I also turn to music for relaxation. Music has always been there for me even after losing a loved one. Music is my strength so it’s only fitting to pursue a career in music so that my creative efforts can felt by all generations of music fans.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: My biggest break and greatest opportunity as far in my music career?

T.R. GODBOLD: In 2015, I wrote Grammy nominated music engineer, David Ivory, a heart felt letter asking him to listen to my Olympic song about throwing the shot put titled “Bringing Home The Gold.” Within a week Mr. Ivory wrote me back with his contact information so I called him. I explained the concept of my song and the motivation behind the lyrics. He really liked the idea of making a song about throwing the shot put, because he was a high school track and field discus thrower. Therefore, he also had a very good understanding of the shot put, so he decided to work with me. Mr. Ivory helped me to add a very nice creative mix to the song and his long time friend, Peter Humphreys. Peter is regarded as one of the finest mastering engineer in region, so it was only fitting for Mr. Humphreys to mastered my song. Working with David Ivory and Peter Humphreys was an awesome experience. It was my biggest break and my greatest opportunity thus far.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is some additional background information about you?

T.R. GODBOLD: Although I was born in Detroit and shaped by Motown, living in Philadelphia and New Jersey for many years has helped me keep a sharp edge on the lyrical skills that Motown blessed me with. I am fortunate to have six other half siblings, two sisters and four brothers.

As a youth I won many science show competitions. I also won a creative art contest hosted at my high school and my art was chosen to be put on display for one year inside of COBO Hall Detroit’s APEX Convention Center. I was voted high school Class Body. The Detroit Newspaper ranked me as 37th top football player out the 50 best players in the state of Michigan in 1993. As a teen I won many local male modeling shows and was featured in several local hair salon commercials that aired on TV in Detroit, MI. As an adult model/actress I was chosen as an extra to star in movies such as “Unbreakable”and “Bottom Feeders.” I also had featured speaking lines in the comedy “White Man Can’t Rap.” I was blessed to be a runway model for LaBron James’ clothing line launch at Sneaker Villa in Philadelphia. I was granted a US patent in 2008 for a fitness device I invented. My childhood nickname was “CoCo”and my birth name is Temico Ricardo Godbold. My wife is Stephanie Anne Godbold. We met while attending Temple University. Stephanie has a B.S. in Kinesiology and a Masters in Health Sciences from Arcadia University. She works as a Physician Assistant for a large orthopedic practice located in New Jersey. We have one daughter, her name is Faith Anne-Loren Godbold.
