IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?
ELI H: I’m from a city in Illinois that consists of two worlds. In one world there is culture and diversity. There is life, hope, unity, and celebration. It’s easy for someone to come start over and become accomplished. Then there’s the other world that is much darker. Nothing but blood, sweat, and tears exist in this atmosphere. It’s where bullets don’t have a name on it and doesn’t discriminate when picking the next target. It’s easy for someone to be consumed by the streets and end up in a coffin or a jail cell. I’m from the city of Chicago.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
ELI H: The background of my music is the experience of growing up being me in Chicago. Throughout my life I have always been underestimated and stepped all over like a doormat. I’m basically trying to create a message that says, “Enough is enough! I’m going to do what I want to do, I’m going to do it the way I want to do it. I’m going to make sure y’all going to respect me for it!”
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
ELI H: My songs are about the thoughts and feelings on the situations I’ve been through in life. It can range anywhere between love and affection to money, power, and respect.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your favorite song to perform and why?
ELI H: A song of mine that I like to perform the most is “One Day.” It’s just so relatable because it talks about feeling like you are not moving forward in life, but you’ll soon make it there in the future. I feel like my fans could use this as determination in their everyday lives when life gets them down.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What has surprised you the most in the pursuit of a career in music?
ELI H: I would have to say all the positive feedback surprised me the most considering I didn’t know how to rap or even know what rap was once upon a time. I was surprised how good I sounded I certain tracks of mine. I actually sounded ambitious and hungry for success which is hard to find in today’s music.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?
ELI H: To be honest almost every music artist I listen to has had a musical influence on me and my music. I prefer to listen to artists who show their true colors in their songs, regardless of how ugly or strange they appear. It inspires me to be myself and try to grasp the attention of someone of there who has the same mindset and feel glad that an artist is voicing their thoughts worldwide.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
ELI H: I would describe my music as three words, “The un-sugarcoated truth.” I’m going to give to you raw and from the heart. We’re all human and are basically going through the same things just in different ways. My music is just describing every detail if my way and what was my reaction.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?
ELI H: A lot of these rap artists you might hear on the radio today talk about the same things over and over with auto tone on their voices. Most of the time you can’t even tell who’s who because they all sound, look, and act alike to the public. Unlike them, I’m going to use my raw voice to paint you an image of what’s going on in my head. No one can take that away from me because no one can be ELi better than ELi. You wouldn’t go to one friend to ask what another friend is thinking, would you?
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What would you like to see changed in today’s music industry?
ELI H: What I would like to see changed in the music industry is the number of new artists. I get tired of seeing the same ole faces on TV and hearing the same ole voices on radio. I want a whole generation to move in like a breath of fresh air and dominate. I want hip-hop/rap to come back to life and get the people excited. It seems like change is long overdue. When I become famous and success I plan to go find underground talent and bring them to my level.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects that you are currently working on?
ELI H: As of right now I’m working on a couple tracks and talking it over with some music artists who are starting get a little buzz in their city. I figure if the track is hot (which I’m confident it will) it would do us both justice.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
ELI H: I plan on being signed and having a huge fan base. In 10 years I plan on being beyond just an artist and becoming an icon for both the young and the older crowd. I want to pursue other careers as well. For example, I want to be an electronic engineer, so while handling my music I would try to squeeze in school somewhere down the line. I want to show the world that a lot of people didn’t think/know I had it in me but I did it and you can accomplish anything you put your mind to in life. We are all given 24 hours a day and what you with that time is on you.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How can your fans access your music and contact you?
ELI H: My fans can contact me on any social media such as Twitter (elihgocrazy), Instagram (elih._) , and Facebook. They can also reach me via email along with business inquiries at firstname.lastname@example.org
