IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?
YOUNG CALIBER: I’m from a city named Bluffton / Hilton Head. It’s in South Carolina. It’s a small town about 30 minutes from Savannah GA. My city is very beautiful. It gives you the whole Miami kinda feeling because we have the beach with palm trees. Also we are the number 3 most Vacationed resort island in the world. So we get people from all over the world visiting every year..
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?
YOUNG CALIBER: Well I started doing music at about 13 teen years old. I used to be around my uncles and some of them used to rap. I also had one uncle who was a bodyguard for people for Diddy, basketball players and other celebrities. So growing up, the influence of making music was always there. By the time I got out of high school I was recording in the studio and doing intern work for a small label. I also wrote songs for other artists as well.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?
YOUNG CALIBER: Well for one I love music. It’s my passion. Secondly, it’s a way for me to catapult my life and help my family and friends in the process. Also I know with making music you can help kids or inspire someone to be great all because they love your songs. So that’s why I like recording and releasing music. So maybe it will make a change for someone who might have had the same rough upbringing as me.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?
YOUNG CALIBER: Well my songs can be about anything to be honest. I make my music off the things I see in life or what I have been through. So it really just depends on my mood and what is going on in my life at that time.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who is your fan base directed towards?
YOUNG CALIBER: I would say my fan base is very universal. I don’t have a specific audience because I feel that my music has no boundaries. I make music for everyone no matter the color, nationality or genre of music.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences
YOUNG CALIBER: Well definitely some of the best such as Jay Z, Kanye West, Ti, Biggie Smalls, 2Tupac, and Young Jeezy.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?
YOUNG CALIBER: I describe my music as universal. As an artist you never know what you might feel or come up with as a representation of how you are at that particular moment. For example, I might be in the hood and I’m going through something so I might want to make a trap record that day. For example, if I am on vacation and feeling the vibe and the atmosphere I might want to make a pop record telling you how much fun it was. Same thing if I was to be in love, my music is a reflection of life and feeling.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artist?
YOUNG CALIBER: Well for one I am definitely being myself. Which I feel most artists in 2016 are all about following a trend of auto tune. Also they are gimmicks trying to sound like and follow an artist’s blue print that is already big in the industry. They will try and use their style to gain exposures. Nothing against auto tune records are artists being influenced by other artists. I just feel like you have to take a little of there stuff, but make it your own if that’s what’s inspired you, if that makes since lol. All in all what makes me Young Caliber is that I am me. You can tell that in my music and in the way I act when you meet me.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?
YOUNG CALIBER: Well I have a song name (LoCo) out on Itunes right now. I am currently working on my new mixtape album named (Now or Never) due out at the end of this summer. Also we are working on doing lots of shows and touring with some major artist.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? where do you see yourself in 10 years?
YOUNG CALIBER: Well my career goal is to be one of the best to ever do it. Maybe have my own label one day with artists that I can teach and show what I have learned over the years. Where do I see my self in 10 years? Well lets just say I hope to be alive and very successful because of the way life is set up today. Life isn’t promised, so I just hope to still be making great music and have good financial freedom.
IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How can your fans access your music and contact you?
YOUNG CALIBER: Well if you are a consumer of my music you can go on all the sites known for music to get my stuff. You can find me on Itunes, Soundcloud, Facebook, Youtube, Spotify, Reverbnation, Goggle, Apple music. Everything is under (Young Caliber) when you search.
