Rockell Ward, better known as hip-hop artist “PG13” was born on September 14, 1990 in Hampton, South Carolina where he is currently persuing his music career. While growing up in the tough streets of Carolina, the emerging artist notice his talent and love for music, so he started doing music in the summer of 2004 heavily influeced by his uncle Ronnie Grant, better know as rap artist “July.” Before being named “PG13, Rockell started out as “Hookmaster Kell” which was given to him by his friends because of his talent and love for the hooks. Later on in his years, Rockell merged with his closest friend from a recent group, and formed a new rap group called “NBA” (Natural Born Assasionz) in 2007 and was then given the rap name “PG13.” PG stands for pure genuis, which his close friends would call him, and 13 was added on because that’s always been his favorite number. PG13 is currently working on new music every single day, and is soon to drop his mixtape “Page 13” hosted by either DJ Greg Street (Atlanta’s hottest Dj) or Dj Smalls (Southern Smoke Radio and one of Flordia’s hottest DJ)!

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What city and state are you from?

PG13: I’m from a small town called Hampton, which is located in South Carolina. The city is full of negativity, and I’m trying to be the first positive coming from my city.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What is your music background?

PG13: Well, I started off making music during the summer of 2004 and I’ve never really stopped since then. Although, I did have a break with music in 2011, I’ve always been writing music. Music literally runs in my family from my uncles, aunts, even down to my little cousins. My uncles really made me want to pursue music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Why do you want to record and release your own music?

PG13: I really enjoy the different things that I could do with my music. I release my own music because it is an escape route for me to express my feelings and show my true talent.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your songs about?

PG13: Like almost any other artist, my songs are mainly about the struggle and depression that runs through my life. I use music to ease my mind! Whatever happens in my life, you can definitely hear it in my music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Who are your musical influences?

PG13: To be honest, I have a lot of influences. I listen to Cassidy, Papoose, Jay Z, Future, T.I., Lil Wayne, Michael Jackson, and Usher. I can go all day, but it’s just too many to name.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How would you describe your music to people?

PG13: I would like to describe my music as “vibed” meaning laid back, pain reliever, mind wandering, or simply just music you could really party to. I have a lot of songs and I’m sure I have a song that goes with any event!

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What makes you stand out from other artists?

PG13: My strive for music is really what stands me out from other artists. Also, I’m educated and like most of friends would call me, I’m a “Pure Genius” when it comes to music. My voice, and vocals are just the extra step that stands me out from other artists.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: Tell us about one of the hardest challenges you had to face in your music career and how did you overcome?

PG13: One of my hardest challenges I’ve face in my music career was not making it to a booked event that I had. That was one of the worst feelings ever when I know that music is my thing and I couldn’t make it. Eventually I have over come this obstacle by writing more music, and moving forward with my music career not allowing anything to stop me.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are some upcoming projects you are currently working on?

PG13: I’m currently working on my mixtape “Page 13” which I’m still deciding rather to let DJ Greg Street (Atlanta’s Hottest DJ) to host my mixtape, or Dj Smalls (Southern Smoke Radio) to host it. Of course my mixtape will have 13 tracks on it, and it’ll be available on Spinrilla, Live Mixtapes, DatPiff, or Soundcloud If you would like to get a feel of my music.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: What are your career goals? Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

PG13: My career goals are to build a label under my label, which will allow other emerging artist a chance to expose themselves to a new body of fans. I see myself still making great music and feeding my family with all of the wealth and businesses that I’m going to bring to the states.

IAA INDUSTRY NEWS: How can your fans access your music and contact you?

PG13: (Twitter – @PG13NBA,) (Instagram – @PG13NBA,) (Facebook – Rockell SuperStarStatus Ward or Fan page PG13 and Problemz,) (Soundcloud, Reverbnation, – PG13NBA)
